Write an overview of how technology has impacted the world as a whole

In this post, I'll be talking about Technology, how it affects adults, kids, society and the world as a whole.
Just as I mentioned in one of my posts, technology is simply the application of scientific knowledge in everyday life in order to bring about advancement and development.

Over the last few years, probably two to three decades ago, technology has become more and more a part of our lives to the point it's safe to say it has overtaken our lives in a sense. Take a break, look around. What do you see?? Phones, gadgets and all. Technology has gone a long way in advancing human life, making us evolve into more advanced species as time goes on.

Share with us some of the positivity and negativity of technology in kid's life

Positive impact

• Agriculture: The use of mechanized equipments and machines in agriculture has gone a long way in enhancing the production and storage of crops and animals leading to overall increase in agriculture output.

• Medicine: The importance of technology in medicine is not something anyone would be oblivious of. The innovations of certain medical equipments have gone a long way in making the discovery of certain diseases easy. Some diseases like cancer and all could have not been able to be diagnosed if not for technology

• Communication: Everyone is aware of this. It is due to technology that we're able to communicate with people quickly and easily. Gone are the days when we depended on letters which took a long time before they are delivered. Now, in milliseconds we could quickly send a text message to whoever we want to message.

• Mutual Coexistence: Technology has brought about mutual coexistence between the world as a whole therefore the saying, "The world is a global village".

These and many more are the POSITIVE impacts of technology on the world. But just like every other thing, technology has its negative impacts.

Negative impacts

• Social Vices: Due to the influence of the internet, kids have resorted to quick money making thereby engaging in theft, cyber crime, and other social vices.

• Inactivity: Since kids now spend all their time on their gadgets, they have forgotten how to socialize and have become inactive so to say. They've lost communication with their parents and now rely on online friends for advise. These online friends may not necessarily offer them good advise hence they go astray.

• Education: In as much as technology has enhanced education, there are also some side effects. Students don't bother reading anymore as they try to smuggle devices which can help them in their exams into their exam halls.

How would you rate the impact of technology in kid's life? Highly positive or negative? Explain.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, that's for sure so I'm not forcing my opinion on anybody. Personally, I think technology has done more harm than good to kids.
You may say "it helps them to study" but then most of the great men we know such as Chinua Achebe, Ben Carson, and others did not have any internet that helped them to study still they made it. I think kids should not have phones at least until they're about to enter the university so the phones do not distract them.

Can you have control over the exposure of kids to certain technological products? How?

Yes is the answer. If kids must have phones, their parents should restrict the way they use it. Some of the restrictions are as follows

-Setting a specific time for operating the phone or whatever device in question.

-Disabling some apps and websites in the device so the kid does not access the wrong website.

• Teaching the kids about the dangers of the internet: Restricting a child doesn't actually do much. Parents should teach their kids the dangers of the internet so even if they're not there, the kids would know what to do.

In conclusion, technology has its positive and negative side. It's important for all of us, kids and adults alike to set limits and have self control so we do not get controlled by the internet.
