I think The 'hook' fluer-de-lis is a remnant token of The Shepard who tends his flock. The overall motif is esoteric Mesopotamian (Read: Cult of Amon Ra). The symbol rpresents 'higher awareness' cuz it's reflecting / modeling the 'jump' from one dimension to the next dimension up. In this case. 2d to 3d.
