Adaptation - Was it Hard?? A long Journey I guess...

in GEMS4 years ago

There is a huge difference between the nightlife of Ukraine and Bangladesh. When I was in Bangladesh, I rarely go out at night. After the office, I used to stay at home, waiting for the dinner and spending most of my time with my pet, yes more than with my family. Don't be too shocked, I rarely talked to my dad and my sister was always busy with her study.

And here in Ukraine, my habit is still the same, stay at home (before lockdown). Though nightlife is not boring here in Kharkiv especially in summer. Many things can be done especially on the weekend.

This picture I have captured when I was in my country, location: from my home balcony. Background story: I was experimenting shutter speed with DSLR and nightlife (street) is the best to experiment shutter speed. I still can't believe how much creative I was at that time, now I guess I forgot everything...

My home in Bangladesh means, Dhaka city, a city of people where noise and crowd belong, the capital of Bangladesh and big city among all cities. We live on the 2nd floor, 2000 sft roadside apartment building. You can't believe how much vehicular noise I had to adapt and now, here no sound nothing, all just quiet.

I miss my home and I think everybody does who especially live far away from their home. Trust me, when I first came here, I had to face a lot of problems. Starting from food to shelter, from language to culture, everything was different unknown and new. I ended up buying the wrong food, I lost myself into the street and ended up somewhere else. I can't remember how many times I have lost my way towards home.

The main problem was language, I couldn't read and speak anything, not a single word but I survived, spent my 2 and a half years here. Many people don't understand my journey, a homesick girl decided to lead her life in a different country.

I used google translator every single day, still I do because I need it still. My Russian writing!!! Don't ask, it took me 3 months to learn and write my own name ... :P Russian language pronunciation?? Still poor, about reading?? Hmm little bit...

My journey was never been so easy, still not easy. But now I learned how to manage, still learning. All credit goes to me??? No, I won't say that. I feel proud of myself because I survived here, alone. I feel proud because I took steps for myself. My dad thought after staying 3 months here in Ukraine, I will return.

Trust me, I used to cry every single night for my home but never expressed that, I spent sleepless nights on the hostel's bed. I cried a lot for hunger, I cried for shelter. But nobody knows what I faced, how far I have come. People just gave advice, left their valuable feedback without knowing my situation. Hmm, that hurts a lot...
