"Recipe of the day, Week No. 30: (Vatata vada )

Hello to all of you!

Hope all of you are doing well.

So here it is, as today it was weekend and a holiday for our family, so i decided to make this dish, I remember my aunt living in Bombay (India )first made this dish for me in 1988.

Name of the recipe : Vatata Vada

Ingredients:
1.Boiled Potatoes
2.Onion
3.Green chilli
4.Gram flour
5.Black Mustard(Rai)
6.Curry leaves
7.Red chilli powder
8.Mango powder
9.Garlic
10.Chat masala
11.Turmeric powder
12.Mustard oil

How to make:

To make Vatata Vada, first of all we will take four to five potatoes and after boiling them we will mash them.

Then finely chop two to three onions, four to five cloves of garlic and two to three green chilli and then add them into the pan and fry them in mustard oil until it colour changes to light brown.

Then add two-four curry leaves to it, when the onions are fried well, add turmeric to it and mix it.

After that add chaat masala as per taste, salt, red chilli, mango powder and mix it well.

Your masala is ready now.

Now mix this masala into the mashed patatoes. And then make small balls.

Now we will take gram flour in a bowl and prepare it by adding so much water that we can easily dip the balls in it.

Now we will heat mustard oil in a deep pan,when the oil gets hot, then after dipping the balls in gram flour we will put them in the pan, then we will fry the balls ln it on medium flame for 3-4 minutes until the balls will fry properly.

Your Potato Vada is ready.

Serve it with green chutney and tomato ketchup.

This is very famous street food in Mumbai (Bombay). generally it is served with Pav. It's called 'Vada Pav' here. It's snack for any time, be it morning, afternoon or evening. When it served just hot with fried chilly it's tastes amazing.
I can sense it's taste from photos...:)
