Blues Education: The Thrill is Gone
The Thrill is Gone by BB King was truly introduced to the world thanks to the Rolling Stones. In 1969 BB King played the song while opening for Rolling Stones during one of their many US Tours.
The song is not an original but written by Roy Hawkins in 1951. BB King's version has an unmistakable intro with its short drum fill followed by the string bending vibrato of the master's unmistakable voice.
The Thrill Is Gone
He finally earned a Grammy for the song in 1970.
"The Thrill Is Gone" is one of my favourite songs played by BB King. In this version I prefer the deep voice of BB King than Tracy Chapman's one.
