How To Generate Steemit Content Ideas - Keyword Research - Exact Search Volume Of Keywords From Google! - SEO Tutorial Series - # 4

in #steemit7 years ago

Hello Steemians!

Welcome to the fourth tutorial in my SEO tutorial series. In past tutorials, we actually covered almost every strategy of On-Page SEO but as I mentioned there, we'll have to get advanced in some strategies to make our work much easier than before!

The strategies which you still need to learn are related to:

  • Keyword Research
  • Keyword Difficulty Analysis

These are the core parts of On-Page SEO and if you can do well in these two parts, then you can have the world in your hands! In other words, your success of SEO highly depends on these two parts.

What is Keyword Research?

Keyword research is the process to search for relevant keywords for which there is demand. Keyword research can generate a wide range of ideas for your niche. Demand refers to search volume. Finding relevant keywords is easy, but measuring their demand is a little tricky. There are a lot of tools on the web that promise you to show the keywords search volume but their costs are pretty high.

And why you'd pay for those services when there is a free alternative for you through which you get data directly from Google? It doesn't make sense, right?

We'll stay on Keyword Research topic for today because it's a broad topic. There are many ways to find relevant keywords. Some of them are better than the others so you'd need to decide for yourself which method you want to go with! So, we'll discuss every possible method with time.

If you're following this SEO tutorial series, then you'd remember that I shared two basic methods of Keyword research. One with Google Keyword Planner, and second with Keyword Tool. But there, we didn't have the exact search volume of keywords. And knowing the exact search volume is a core part of Keyword Research because it gives you an idea whether you should put your efforts to rank for that keyword or not! So, today, I am going a bit advanced!

Generate Your Steemit Content Ideas:

I am assuming that you've decided a specific type of content. For the sake of the tutorial, say you've decided to make some "How to" posts but for now, you're not sure what you should teach! and if you could get someone to suggest you the topic, would you be grateful? would you be happy? for sure. The answer is Yes! Keyword research can generate a lot of ideas for you. Through Keyword Tool, I'm going to generate some ideas for "How to" phrase. Follow the steps with me:

Go to Keyword Tool and type "How to" in the search field, and press "Enter" to get topic suggestions:

Hurray, you can see that you got 702 topic ideas. Now you need to pick your desired one:

For the sake of the tutorial, I am picking "How to handle a wife" because it looks interesting and funny at the same time, but I would still love to multiply the list of ideas and this time, I'd search for "how to handle a wife":

Amazing! I have 184 different ideas. But I want to find out the exact search volume of all suggested keywords. You might be wondering how to do that, right? Don't worry, it's easy.

Finding The Exact Search Volume For Suggested Keywords:

It is preferred to use Google's data to find out search volume, but Google returns the answers in search ranges if you're not an advertiser. So, you'd not get exact search volume using Google Keywords Planner.

But fortunately, KeywordsEverywhere has designed a great tool to find exact search volume. It fetches the result directly from Google. They have some advertisers account with Google through which Google allows them to get exact search volume, and this way, KeywordsEverywhere is giving us a free service to find out exact search volume for your keywords.

Basically, it's an extension which comes either with Chrome or Firefox. You should go to KeywordsEverywhere and download an extension, then activate your Free API key. I have KeywordsEverywhere installed in my Chrome browser.

Now, after activating the extension, you need to copy the keyword ideas. Click on "Copy All":

Click on KeywordsEverywhere icon and click on "Bulk upload keywords" (icon should be visible on top-right corner) See below:

Now paste your keywords and click on "Get Search Volume and CPC":

You successfully fetched the search volume. See below:

Please note that I picked "How to handle a wife" just for the sake of tutorial. You can use this method for any keyword you want. But please be aware that we'd need to find keyword's difficulty to decide whether to use it or not. (Or if you were just looking for ideas without intention of SEO, then no need of difficulty analysis)

Conclusion:

You can write about any topic you like, and just like that, you can multiple your list of keywords till you get the handful of high demand keywords. That way, you'd enjoy writing your favorite contents and at the same time, you'd be helping Steemit grow. Keywords which have at-least 480 monthly searches can be considered good. There are various methods to multiple your keyword list. Some of them cost money but I'll teach them anyway. I have some tools as I am SEO expert and I usually need them for my work.

Important Info:

In my coming tutorials, I'll switch to "Keyword Difficulty Analysis" but before that, I'd love to explain every strategy of keyword research. And as I mentioned it before, Off-Page SEO is also necessary to get desired results. We're discussing On-Page SEO so far and once On-Page SEO gets complete, we'll get to Off-Page SEO.

Very educating and informative. Do you go for difficult keyword or easy keyword after your difficulty analysis? In domain name choosing, do you prefer to use keyword analysis in your choice of domain name to aid future visibility?

Thinking about Steemit & SEO, of course, we can search in several sites (from Google trends to the 100 more searched in wikipedia.any , and use tools as you talk.
In my mind are a doubt.. Is the same content teh searched (or tagged) by de "common" users and the "steemit users". ?? And one more... (i had no skills programing ) Can anyone with skills use the API of STEEM for visualize the real ranking of searches in this Platfform? (Obviusly, beyond trending topics).
