Greetings to my fellow steemians. Trust you are doing great. I am really glad to participate in this contest titled: Choices! What will it be? #40 organized by @patjewell in the steem for ladies community. Out of the five topic listed in the contest, I decided to talk about Games.

What are Games?

Personally I would like to define game as any activity or sport played for fun or title which would also involve the use of tactics and knowledge to fairly win an opponent. There are rules in every game and this rules helps the game to be fair enough and enjoyable.

Reasons why we play games

There are various reasons why games are played some of which includes:

• Educational purposes: most games are basically created for educational benefits, to help sharpen the minds of people and boost their mental capacity. Some games that are of educational benefits are word puzzles, chess, word cookies etc. These games are games that can be downloaded from the internet and are of benefits to the brain as they try to engage you in using listed letters to formed words.

• Entertainment purposes: this aspect of games is very broad. Most games act as entertainment and competition at the same thing, this kind of games doesn't really help educationally but just for entertainment and a bit of competition. Most of these games include free fire, Call of Duty, beach buggy etc. most of these games are multiplayer games which involves defeating an opponent in an online battle or race and therefore result in a competition which is entertaining. Every player would to win, so definitely there is always a winner.

Outdoor Games

These are games that are never meant to be played inside the house due to it mode of playing. The fact that it is played outside lets the players consider the environ and weather Conditions of the time to play. This outdoor games could be played in a tidy and open field, a playground with a well-prepared floor and wide space. Outdoor games when nicely arranged, attracts a lot of audiences.

We have different types of outdoor games, examples are; football, baseball, basketball, badminton etc. Swimming is also an outdoor game but unlike most sports it is carried out in water instead of land.

I love playing football, it is my best game either online football or physical outdoor football, I enjoy them both. When I was in secondary school, we played a match with another school, and it was quite a tough one, so I was substituted in to played and towards the end of the match I scored a fantastic goal. From a distance away from the 18 yard, I shot the ball to the angle of the goal post, the opponent's goalkeeper dived to catch the ball but failed, so I scored, and this goal is one of the best in my school.

Indoor Games

These are games that called be played inside the house. These games are most likely to be educational games like chess which involves smart thinking and calculation to be able to win an opponent. Ludo is also an indoor game which is popular but unlike chess, ludo involves calculation and luck since it involves casting a die to your games seeds. There are also the card games like the whot and poker card.

Computer and online games: these are also indoor games but require the use of computer, laptop or an Android phone to be able to play. Some of these games could be single player or multiplayer, online or offline but must be played on devices.

Even sports like football, basketball, swimming etc. now has a video version where player create their team and play games. Online games like Call of Duty picks random active players who are online to form a team and battle against other opponents.

Effects of gaming

In as much as games help educationally and in entertainment, when it is taken to important there are bound to be effects, some of which includes:

• Addiction: when someone continuously plays games without creating enough time for other activities, he will be addicted to it.
• Health challenges: due to the constant playing of mostly video games, one could develop eye problems.

Conclusion

Playing of games is helpful and fun but when over played and becomes an addiction, it could lead to loses. If one is addicted to playing online games, such a person would hardly sleep at night, which will make the person uncomfortable during the day because you can't cheat nature. So games should be played at free time and under control to avoid addiction and health issues.
