ALMS GIVING
Yes, Alms giving. What is "almsgiving" or "Giving alms"?
Giving alms is a great duty which everyone or all Christians, according to their ability must perform. It must be done secretly and with respect to the person of the poor recipient.
This is a duty that has a great reword attached to it which would be lost if it is done in hypocrisy. It can be rewarded in temporal things whith:
plenty ( proverbs 11:24-24)
Security from want ( proverbs 28:27)
Succour in distress (psalm 41:1-4)
Honour and a good name (psalm 112:9)
Apart from these, it shall be recompensed in resurrection of the just in eternal riches. Luke 14:13-14
The hypocrisy perform this duty also but not from any principle of obedience to God or love to man in pride and vain-glory, that they may be applauded bay men and gain cheap popularity, to achieve their aims, they chose public place such as street where a lot of people will notice them as they give their alms and deliberately draw other's attention to what they are doing .
The hypocrisy got their expected reward which is to be seen and be applauded by men. They have their reward here and not to hope for anything in heaven. Whatever reward the godly have in this world are but just a part payment, there is much more in future, externally.
When you give your alms, it should be done secretly and conceal it as much as possible and that we must
not let others know what we do. It also implies that we must not glory in what is done and must not within ourselves take notice too much of good we do, nor admire and applaud. ourselves and feel we have done someone a big favour.
Your alms giving done in secret shall be rewarded by the Heavenly Father in the open.
Remember, when you help someone today you have help thousands of people.
