TOPIC: FOR HIS NAME SAKE
READINGS: 1 Samuel 12
[22]The lord will not abandon his people, because that would dishonor his great name. For it has pleased the lord to make you his very own people.

The people of Israel offended God so much that He decided to wipe them completely from the surface of the earth. The punishment pronounced depicted how however the Lord was. In the intercession of Moses for how people, he realised nothing could appease God except for the fact that His name would be put to shame if the heathen should hear that he killed all his people.

For only this reason God changed his mind. Beloved, we have to remember that we by grace bear the name of this great God. He has promised to lead us in the path of righteousness only because of His name.
Psalms 23:1-6
[1]The lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.
[2]He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams.

[3]He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.
[4]Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.

[5]You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.
[6]Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the lord forever.

If for nothing, He would never leave nor forsake us because He cannot be unfaithful to Himself. With all these privileges in mind let's do all we can, as His grace enables us, too safe guard and protect the dignity of the name of our great God. If we are ready to confront any sinful lifestyle as David did when he heard Goliath defaming the name of the Lord, He is ever ready to always prove himself strong.

Any time we compromise our Christian standards for the word, we vilify God's name. Any time we consciously commit sin, we bring His name into Shame. Let's uphold his name high by living a life that befits his nature and character.
