The Power of Decree #1

Bible Reading : Job22:21-30
Job22:28 says, "Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways". In this series of meditation, I shall exame what a decree is, features of a decree, what a decree accomplishes and who is qualified to issue a decree. A decree is different from a declaration. While anybody can make a declaration, not everybody can issue a decree. The English definition of a decree is, "a statement of truth that carries the authority of a court order". In the Hebrew language, a decree means, " to divide, seperate or to destroy". The German Diktat is the equivalent of our modern day decree and it means, "a harsh judgement imposed on a defeated enemy that cannot be stopped ". Make no mistake about it, Satan is a defeated foe and when we issue a decree against him, we make a harsh judgement against him, that no force on earth can stop. I read a story of an old Christian woman whose house and properties were destroyed in a hurricane which caused a nearby river to overflow it's bank causing heavy flooding. She later rebuilt her house and the next time a similar situation arose, She stood at the bank of the river and issued a decree stopping the river from overflowing it's bank, and the river obeyed.
