A wonderful day to everyone here today and I believe we are all safe and sound. I am @preshy101 a student of the great Ahmadu Bello University and I want to write about a particular topic that has been inside of me, so I wish you all a happy reading.

WHAT IS A SKILL - A skill can be seen as any ability that is unique and also that is acquired through learning processes. so a skill is mostly acquire when someone goes in search for it.

Now my point is why is it necessary to have a skill. it is very necessary to have not just a skill but skills if possible. skills helps to bring money to your pocket, it helps to take care of your needs and also it helps to provide the necessary things that you need whenever you make use of it. so as students especially, it is more profitable to get a skill in other to take care of your self be it in school or at home.

WHY I PREFER SKILL TO EDUCATION - Education they say it is the key to success, that is if you want to succeed then you have to be educated. well I almost believed that until the recent things began to occur in our country at large. I have been in the university since the year 2019 to date and I have remained a 200 level and this is because the universities world wide have not been functioning because of what we call strike. and so many youth are been left to wonder what will become of their future.

Ever since I was at home, before I gained admission, I have been learning mechanic skills, going to my dad's shade to acquire more knowledge on how to fix machines and motorcycles especially when they are faulty. so ever since the strike occurred I have never lack a place to go to plus I never like the schooling Idea because of one thing. my elder brother has been a graduate since 2015 and till date he is still struggling with a teaching job that pays #15,000.

So that has been a turndown for me when talking about school but I just have to continue just to bear the name graduate and nothing more because as for a job I have it already once I perfect my skills so well I will be able to take care of myself and my family to. I also wish to start selling spare parts but it is always one step at a time. now in my father's business there is no strike and I can come whenever I wish to come but that not withstanding I take every of my work seriously.

The idea of this article is not to bring your hope down when talking about school but it is also a word telling all of us that the idea of skill acquisition is a wonderful idea to be embraced with our hands and not just to shy away from it. do you know that after lecture hours I do return to the shade to continue working and sometimes my friends will come talking me out of it telling me to come and go for some outing and all of that but I always turn my back on them. now today they are all at hoe doing nothing but I get to increase my skills everyday.

Yes we all know that education is good and if there is time one should further but to me I get to further when I have finished learning my skills so well because it is with my skills that I will use to pay my fees in school. it is better to further your education when you have something doing than to think you will get a job after school. that only works for few person's and as someone who is speaking from gaining an experience through his brother, I am telling you that it is better to have at least a skill at hand while schooling.

We have been at home for 6 months now, A wise student will make use of this time to acquire a skill that will be lucrative and well profitable. even if they call off the strike now, there is every tendency that the strike will certainly occur again. so now do you prefer going in and out of school having nothing to do or do you prefer seeing every strike as an opportunity to learn something new in other to add to the ones you already know. think about it.

This article of mine is not a debate but it is an article that will help students to not rely on just education alone but also to move further and acquire skills, learn businesses and go for trainings that are sure profitable and will be useful in times ahead. thank you all for this moment, see you again next time.
