Technology has created a tremendous impact in all aspects of life including transportation, therefore there has been a great change in transportation efficiency/modes which differs greatly from what was used in the ancient times.

In olden times, there was nothing like air transportation, in order to move from one place to another, man made use or their legs and walked several miles to reach their destinations. They also constructed chariots with horses to transport themselves, they further made use of "beast of burdens"(Carmels, donkeys etc) which carried heavy goods and people on their backs for transportation and of course, these forms of transportation took place on LAND. Our ancestors also made use of simple WATER ways/routes to move from one place to another, they used wooden boats and canoes.

As said earlier, technology has proven to be the king of modernity, our forms of ancient transportation has been replaced with safer, easier, faster and more reliable transportation means. Let's us see how transportation has affected our various modes of transportation (land, air, water).

LAND

🚓 With efficient road network, technology has helped man to move freely using vehicles without much cases of traffic congestion

🚗There has been easier transportation and movement of highly explosive mineral resources with the use of pipelines

🏍️ Production of automatic vehicles has been on the increase and have been of great help to the disabled as these are controlled with remotes

🚊 Railway transportation has lower the risks of accidents as trains have their own tracks which stops at its various stations

AIR

✈️ The various aircrafts has aid easier/faster transportation especially in emergency cases

🚁 There is no occurrence of traffic congestion of any sort

🛬 Less payment of fees such as fuel costs, parking fees etc

🚀 With technology, parachutes have been made available to save lives in cases of plan crash

🛫 Technology in transportation has promoted security consciousness as war Jets, helicopters and airplanes are provided to fight wars

WATER

🛶 Technology has enhanced commercialization and foreign trade as many goods are transported via waterways

⛵Waterways are now made legal with routes that links every part of the world

🚤 Life jackets have been created to make travelling on water safer in cases of ship wreck

There are varieties of modern transportation here in uyo. Akwa Ibom state has a train station in one of the remote villages which I have not seen before but will surely get to see what it looks like anytime soon.

An airport where planes take off/land at intervals is also available here in oron road(aka airport road) which is just few miles from my house.

There is also a water depot at uruan my hometown where timbers are imported from other countries using ferries, boats, ships, speed boats, canoes etc.

And many vehicles ranging from tricycles, motorbikes, cars, trucks and lots more are available where I live

1. Modern transportation has been able to adapt to unfavourable weather conditions like storm, rainfall etc.
2. It has led to stability and reliability in the various forms of transportation
3. The charges of some modern transportation are economical and affordable by many
4. Most automatic vehicles alerts it's drivers of dangerous situations ahead thus creating a safer environment

• There should be stability of fuel prices as this is one of the core product that aids transportation

• Railway tracks should be well maintained on regular basis

• High tax rate on vehicle importation should be reduced

• Air travel should be made functional and standby

• Inland water ways should be well explored and developed

• More researches should be done on how to curb/reduce plane crashes, ship wreck and road accident

We have come to realize that technology has been of great importance to us especially in the aspect of transportation. Hence , we look forward to more stress-free forms of transportation in future.
