Evening at Thissa Wewa!
As I said in my previous post, I said about my Anuradhapura journey. So this is an another extension of it. Since heavy sun rays were kissing the earth in the afternoon, we decided to have a rest in the afternoon and visit Thissa wewa and Isurumini temple in the evening.
We started our journey again at 5.00 pm I think. Isurumini Viharaya and the Thissa wewa are neighboring areas in Anuradhapura. So first we thought to visit Isurumini temple. It's an old temple famous for carvings on the rock. Isurumuni Pem Yuwala is the most popular among all. After spending at the Isurumini temple we left for Thissa wewa. I didn't forget to take a picture with that beautiful pond with lotus infront of the temple. It was so beautiful!
Thissa wewa is situated from walking distance from Isurumuni temple. It was such a beautiful view for the evening. We had no idea of bathing, but wanted to sit near the lake and looking at it. Even though it was evening, sun rays seemed so upset to say good bye to the lake. We sat on the rocks near the lake, enjoyed the silence and the beauty. Suddnely my dream has became in to a reality! Wordlessly I was at the moment.
There I met two beautiful people. I asked praveen to secretly take some pictures of one of the two, to keep with me. Our water bottle was finished and we were looking for a way to find an another water bottle.
An ice cream uncle was coming along the way and we stopped him to ask whether there was a place to take some water. He offered us his water bottle with some water,tied to his motor bike saying he can find some water again. Uncle, I brought you from Anuradhapura to colombo and your kindness will remain in my heart, as a beautiful memory.
We took some beautiful photos walking along the lake path. Real village beauty hit me so hard. Finally we sat on the garden near the lake, where many people were bathing, till the moon light come in to that super beautiful night!
That is my favorite location. Spending time in the Tissa Wewa bunt is what a great, especially in the evenings and early mornings. Don't you visit the Uyana behind the bunt, which is filled with ruins of ancient maligawa, a bathing lake, and other lot of important places.

Tissa wewa became one of my fav places like yours😍
No, not the temple, but there is a large park behind the bunt, that has many ruins, such as a pond, Galkanu, Maligawa, and lake so on. That place is kept very neat and clean. Most people are unaware of this location and without visiting that place, they directly go to Tissa wewa. Next time when you go there, ask the temple officers or the ice-cream vendor about that location, then they will direct you to that place.
