After 19 Years!

As I mentioned in my last post I was sick. But I never had a single thought of a hospitalisation. Unluckily it happened and I had no chance to stop it. I had to meet a doctor for da second time and took some medications for cough, vomiting and fever. He prescribed two drugs to buy from the pharmacy and in the evening I bought them and took in the night.

In the mid night I felt a big discomfort all over my body, like my all the muscles were contracting. Vomiting didn't stop, My vision was not clear and couldn't keep my eyes opened. I relalized that something bad was happening and couldn't endure it anymore. I called amma and we reached to the hospital as soon as possible. In that way I had to admit in the hospital almost after 19 years!

I think it was 2.30 am in the morning when I was entered to the ward, but I had to wait for another 15-20 minitues until doctor finished all his works freely. Once amma asked him to see me but his answer was "ඉන්න ටිකක් ඉතින්. දැන්නෙ ආවෙ"! My heart rate, respiratory rate was going up, my hand fingers were working by their own and I said amma I don't know whether I will live or not.

When all his works are done, he came to me and gave me a bed with the nurse. He got the instructions through a phone call from the consultant and gave me a drug through IV. Then they did ECG tests, as I saw after It showed an unusual waves. After several hours of suffering I felt a little comfort. They took blood for several tests.

Finally I thought that this was me. At least I have some knowledge on these things so I could ask or question about the things. But the people who come from rural villages? It was the main hospital of Monaragala, which is very famous for killing patients. Very unempathetic, uncaring and cruel. Um not sure whether they know about ethics or not. But the nursing staff and supportive staff members were really kind to the patients.

My story has another long story and I will share it with you in the next time!

Sort:

The doctors think that they are the cream of the society. So, they become swollen headed. Not all but a few. Particularly the young and middle-aged doctors experienced this. The senior doctors kind and considerate.
