You know 18th of May right? All the Sri Lankans know it. I never felt the day like the way I feel in this year. Some people say our soldiers sacrificed their lives and brought the victory for Sri Lanka. Do You know the most confusing word here for me? It's Victory. So how it becomes a victory? After sacrificing so many precious lives, so many innocent lives how we could say it as a victory.
But after sacrificing so many precious lives we achieved something. We were prevented from the fear of bombs. Fear of gun shots. Fear of our lives. That's why we owe to that solders who had the honest feeling of bringing peace for this country. No doubts we owe for them. I can't even imagine sacrificing my young life for anything. I have lot to do. They also had. But they sacrificed. That's how they became heroes.
I mentioned this is the most felt 18th May for me. I will write the reason here. I have many friends from North. For an year I have been trying to grab the true facts regarding the war. As a result of it I could grab something. But many of them didn't even want to speak a single word on it. I couldn't understand why. First I thought they don't trust me.
But after getting to know the things, I was shocked. I thought that what is the meaning of the victory we are talking about. We already know the pathetic side of the south during the war. But I didn't know the pathetic side of North. That's why I felt this 18th May more than any year after 2009.
Sometimes I had to cry a lot looking at the pictures, videos, pathetic stories of both people from South and North. Mothers from North and the Mothers from South. We owe for our solders. But War is only a political game which was payed by thousands of innocent lives. Every life that was payed for this political game is so precious! In that case there is nothing to celebrate! Nothing!

නිසල කොතක නමක් වෙලා උඹ අහසට ඇදුණි
යන්නම් වත් නොකියා ගිය එකට පපුව පැලුණි!
උස අත්තක් නොවුණට මට සමාවෙයන් පුතුනි!

The saddest part is that many have forgotten this part of the story. I saw someone has told that it is better if he is still alive. I pitty that person. That's my opinion though🤗
Just like the usage of victory, we should also be cautious with words like terrorists and humanitarian mission by suing them in the appropriate places only.
