YOU GET IT WHEN YOU ASK.

Do you know that the phrase "ask for anything in my name" actually means "make a petition over my signature"? In essence, I am pre-signing a blank requisition form which you can fill out for anything and present it to my father, and as long as that requisition form meets the stipulated conditions, you have it.
The implication here is that if I am in good standing with my father (not you) and my father has the resource that you petitioned for, he will give it to you because the request (to all intents and purposes) came from me his son.
Wonderful to say the least!
If you go to the bank to cash a cheque given to you by a client or relation. Few questions may cross your mind.
a. What if this cheque is not honoured?
b. What is the giver has insufficient fund in his account?
c. Did the giver cross the Tees and dot the Is?
This is not the case with the father, our God.
The father's word says, "you do not have because you have not asked". Before you ask for anything, your mind has to be made up. There are two things that may happen to you at that point. Doubt and Faith are two handy factors and they are compelling forces. Believing Abba father is capable of giving you what want to ask before you ever ask is called faith. Without this Faith it is impossible to break through.
Jesus said that if we ask for anything in His name, the Father would give it to us. You catch the drift? I get from His (and my) dad because of His signature! No sweat on my part. Just confidence to present the request and collect the answer.
Amazing! Is it?
It's not a way to get whatever you want from God. Obviously, if you ask God for something, and it's in his will, you will receive it.
Jesus was talking to his disciples. God was going to give them whatever they needed to do the work that He was calling them to do.
