WILL THERE EVER BE PEACE IN THE WORLD?

There are many questions in my mind as events unfold these days. People sleep and wake up in fear. Fear of the known and the unknown.

Insecurity and terror have become common words in the mouth of the populace. People are being killed left, right and center. Many nations are tagged "Failed state", and government's developed blocked ears and blind eyes. They no longer listen to the cries of the people they govern and one will always ask what democracy is all about.

Politicians in order to remain in power in perpetuity encourage terrorism. In countries with diverse ethnic diversities, one ethnic group in power subjugate other ethnic groups with satanic oppression. Satan inspired ophivials everywhere and the people are crying and dying.

In some other countries it is one religious group trying to exterminate other religious groups to form a one religious state. They kill and maim to achieve their goal.

Other rulers in other countries introduce a system of government that is not acceptable to the majority, and in order to make divergent opinions fall in line, they deny them of their basic human right. There is also weapon of racism everywhere. Political racism, colour inspired racism, class racism. Trouble and mad people everywhere.

There are many freedom fighters now than we had some fifty years ago. Many indigenous people are seeking political freedom to go their separate ways from their country. This rights of self determination is being denied them even by the powers that enshrined that in their constitution.

In the country where I live, life is no more sacred. Killing of innocents is a daily occurrence if not hourly. There seems to be no answer to these malaise. Even those who are paid to protect lives and properties are engaged in extra judicial killings.

Hunger is another killer weapon. When there are no jobs for people to work and earn a living. When local farmers' s crops are destroyed and are killed for protesting the rampaging herdsmen. Consequently there is hunger in the land. A hungry man is an angry man. The government has failed.

There are wars everywhere and rumors of wars as the bible predicted. Are we really in the last days? Events have not proved otherwise.

Will there ever be PEACE in the world?

Let us read with understanding what Jesus Christ the Prince of Peace has to say in the book of John 16:33

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (NKJV)

I have read different translations of this particular chapter verse. Something strucked me and that is, "In Me you MAY have PEACE. but the WORLD you will have TRIBULATION. be of good CHEER because I have overcome the world.

Look at the word again, "May have Peace". This may not be a 100% assurance for Peace. As forTribulation, distress, peaceless, troubles, yes they are not scarce in this world where we live.
The relativity of this promise depends on how a close walk we maintain with master Jesus the Christ.

To be of good cheer is to be fearless, couragious and toughened in your spirit to be able appropriate the victory won by Jesus Christ for us.

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
John 14:27(NLT)

We can have the peace of Christ in our individual lives as we trust him to rule our lives.

Remember, we got a home somewhere. If this world is a better peaceful world Jesus would not have talked of going to prepare another place for us believers. No wonder he said those who endure this troubles (tribulations) till the end shall be saved.

This is a call to tighten our belts as our journey gets tougher. We are made overcomes by the blood of the Lamb and by the Word of our testimony. The darkest hour of the night is about an hour to morning.
