LET YOUR WORDS BE FEW.
LET YOUR WORDS BE FEW.
A man is known by his words. The book of Matthew 12:34b says:
For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
King Solomon said,
Proverbs 10:19 (NIV)
Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues.
Therefore he counseled in Ecclesiastes 5:2 (NIV)
Do not be quick with your mouth,
do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth so let your words be few.
If the children of Israel were talking and shouting every day, they would not have been able to fall the walls of Jericho.
What did Joshua commanded them to do in the book of Joshua 6;10,
”But And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout!”
If in the physical world, you hear the president of a country broadcasting every day over the radio and television, his words would obviously become common to the people.
Many citizens of the country would also lose confidence and respect for him.
But because he he does not always speak, therefore whenever he wants to speak, every citizen knows he will be talking on important issues and will be eager to listen to him.
Every talkative and jester, whether Christian or non Christian is empty and therefore cannot make impact.
