RE: Architecture: The Central Market Hall (1897) - Budapest - 4

I remember when I was a teenager and wanted to learn Hungarian language, but my mother was frightened I had to travel to Hungary (I'd like very much to travel to Hungary, but no way...)

It's an interesting country, a lot of land been stolen from them after the second world war. It should have been given back a few years ago. That was the agreement but of course, if it comes to Navo a word isn't a word.
Transylvania always been Hungarian and the history is interesting. I followed the trail of count Dracula in Hungary and Romania.

You can still learn the language, it's one that has nothing in common with other languages although it might be easier today since it also adopted foreign words.

What was it that wanted you to travel to Hungary?

My mother didn't want me to travel to Hungary (surely, because Hungary never appears in the media as the English-speaking countries and the western EU), so she was afraid it was a dangerous place (at least, for a teenager). I wasn't afraid at all, but I couldn't help, as I was living with my parents, depending on them 100%. I know the language is similar to Finnish.

Hungary isn't western Europe and for sure (also back then) the east European countries are way safer than the Western ones.

I know, I know...but unfortunately my mother didn't know. She took the Western as safer (that's why no issue to send me to England, France, Spain, Austria, etc., but I couldn't mention an Eastern country...), well, in any way, Austria is the safest Western country where I travelled.

Austria must have changed a lot. I can't say I ever felt safe. Till today they are hostile to foreigners, their neigbours, Europeans, Dutch included. I cannot remember one single time they didn't stand with guns, the border was open during all those years of that one great EU. ☹️
If I can avoid it I will not stay overnight in a hotel up there.
From experiences, and not ours only, the hotels are also one of the worst if it comes to how they treat their employees so no way I want my children work there.
Being pushed of the road or followed and tried to be pushed of a mountain by a truck is also something we only experienced in Austria.

🤐

That's incredible, dear friend! My last trip to Austria was above 25 years ago and it was my third time there. I always have found kindness, good welcome and cleanness. Into my best trips. Upset how it changed...in any way, some years ago an in-law of my husband married a man from Austria and went to live there. She is a nurse. She says it's very better than Latin America (well, obviously it's to believe whatever central and northern European area is very better than most of Latin America: we are still third world).
