#WednesdayWalk - Finally a Fresh Flush of Green Leaves...

in #wednesdaywalk5 years ago (edited)

I had been anticipating the fresh flush of green leaves to be showing on the trees back in April but we've had a very cold spring and there was no way those leaves were going to expose themselves!
Finally we got a good rain (instead of snow) and some warmer weather and sure enough the leaves began to burst open!

@tattoojay started the #WednesdayWalk initiative and on my walk today I'll take you up the hill where we walk our dog Bruno. there we saw the first little flush of green then I took some photos a couple of days later when the leaves had really burst open by some ponds, fields and the lake which is at the end of our road..

Spring has sprung. I live in MO and it is finally warming up down here are well. There hasn't been snow for a while, but the temps have been lower than usual. Thanks for sharing!

It was a very late spring this year, is that what you experienced too in your part of the world?

It has certainly taken long enough for it to arrive here in Wisconsin, too! Today was the first day that it felt warm enough to sit outdoors and enjoy the sunshine for a while. I love seeing all your baby leaves. Great photos. !Tip

It seems like that cold spell was wide spread, making for such a late spring! Glad you're finally getting some warmer stuff there to enjoy!

We are a good bit farther along, but it is always heartening to see that first green. Here, with so many maples, there's often a lot of red from the blossoms also.

Oh! Interesting that the maples give a red tint to the mix - I bet that is real beautiful!

Day before yesterday we driving somewhere, and it almost looked like autumn in a couple places....

Oh! that is so strange! has it been really dry or something?

Really, really wet! From last August to about a week ago it rained constantly. In fact, last year, here in New England had over 60" of rain. New England has not seen that much rain since the late 1860's, yup, "1860's"! I suspect it may be why I lost so much this winter, as we didn't have the prolonged deep cold we usually do. That's what has killed stuff in the past.

Isn't it nice that spring has finally got to us more northern folks, we finally have some green grass in town, people raking and mowing, and the trees finally leafing out. All in the last four or five days when we had a few days of light sprinkles, and overcast days, and low hanging moisture.

What part of the country are you from? It's sounding like this cold spring spread over a pretty large area!

Up in Alaska, it is pretty normal spring so far, it has never really been safe to put flowers out before the end of may. Some people push their luck though. Just in the last few days the lawns have started to green up and be raked. So pretty much on schedule for us.

After your harsh winter and all the snow it must be so nice to see those greens starting to appear on this beautiful walk

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)

Oh! I was so happy to finally see that flush of green! It took such a long time coming! It makes everything look so fresh!

the longer it takes to come the more special the greens are :)

How true! This year I really, really, really appreciated them!

Beautiful... living in Texas we never really lose the green. Having seasons is a good reminder of the cycle of life.

Yes! Having 4 makes you appreciate each season when it comes!

These are all lovely. My fave is Lovely Fresh Green by the Field. I'll bet if you stood still and just watched a hillside for 10 minutes, you would be able to see the green advance up the hill. What a beautiful day, a perfect day for a walk with a good dog.

I don't know about 10 minutes but there was a difference from the early morning to the late afternoon. The leaves were unfurling! It was a beautiful day!

This is a delightful walk with you and I loved the songs of the Robins. So relaxing to hear the birds sing during mornings. Loved the photos too!

Life slowly coming back into the stark trees, lovely to witness bursting fresh green showing up again.

Enjoyed the song of the birds we never see, thanks for taking time to record.

Hey I was very happy to see that fresh green growth - it really feels like spring now! You're welcome about the bird song. I love to hear the bird songs and hope others will enjoy them too if I share!
