Just passed along some of my own experiences with the camera my friend. You should also try the "macro" shots, as I am sure that you will be amazed.
This is a tiny jumping spider that I snapped on a window in the sun.
He is a little bit bigger than a match head.
Got him on the macro setting.

As far as birds in flight are concerned, I track their flight path.

Cool! I'll have to try the macro setting. I've just been starting the photography course I signed up for with Tony Laidig but I haven't had much time to rally dig into it yet. I'm sure enjoying my new camera though and learning little by little!
Thanks for your tips!

Did you download the camera manual .pdf ?
They have detailed sections in there about every setting of the camera,
Although I have to say that I am happy to run around on "Auto" most of the time.
With time you will be sure to form your own special relationship with the camera my friend. Practice makes perfect and your posts are looking great.
Blessings!

I have the manual that came with the camera is the manual online any different?

Oh yes, the manual has much more information.
Google; Canon, Powershot SX60HS, Camera User Guide .pdf

Then download the .pdf guide

The booklet that is supplied with the camera is just an introductory guide and the actual manual is way better to use.
Blessings!

Got the user guide downloaded much more defined with images etc. Thanks for urging me to get it downloaded!

My pleasure and I hope that you will find great new tips in it my friend.
Although I must admit that I have never read the thing completely. Maybe I will sit down one of these days to study it hahaha.
Blessings!
