Sheep from telephone wires

To see these animals in the Museum of communications in Frankfurt. Its exposition is devoted to the stages of development of postal communication, telephony, radio and television. Unique telephones, the first computers and communicators, mailboxes, trains, cars, carriages and even a working machine for sorting letters... but the most striking impression on visitors is made by a small flock of sheep made of gray and black phones. A flock of telephone sheep has become the hallmark of the Museum and at the same time is the business card of its author Jean Luc Cornec — a unique case in the world of art.

It all began with the fact that the hands of the artist got an old telephone. Twisting the spiral rings of the telephone cord around his finger, he had an Association with the rings of sheep's wool. Fantasy earned in this direction — and here is already corps long outdated telephone apparatus became head sheep, and hooves telephone tube! The first lamb caused a storm of delight of others and, as a consequence, the desire of the artist to consolidate the result. Thus was born the whole herd. Completeness of the images gave the sound design of the group. Sheep voices became slow phone calls, like bleating.

Over time, the artist realized that his group of cute artiodactyls has a deeper meaning than just an art object causing a smile. The artist discovered that the sheep is a kind of archetype with different religious, linguistic and cultural interpretations. Attracted here and such a planetary problem as the daily decrease in species diversity of animals. Contributes to the relevance of the project and the scandalous sheep Dolly, blurring the concept of uniqueness and seriality.
In a sense, there was a semantic "reset" and the art object acquired new meanings.
