Welcome to the auspol news headlines for Thursday 29 June.

Breaking: George Pell charged on historical child rape charges in Victoria. Cardinal Pell has finally been charged with multiple sex allegations from multiple complainants. This will have serious implications both here in Australia and in Rome, where Cardinal Pell is high up in the Catholic hierarchy. At this stage, it is not clear whether Cardinal Pell would return home to face the charges, or whether he would have to be extradited. More news to come.

Phillip Lowe, Reserve Bank boss, urges workers to seek a pay rise. In a surprising move, the Reserve bank urged workers to seek a pay rise. Philip Lowe however, is underestimating worker abilities to secure a wage increase in the current environment. He also underplayed the effect of the casualisation of the Australian workforce which affects workers ability to get a pay rise.

Proponents say that vaping is healthier and more considerate than smoking and are seeking your help in getting it legalised. Arguably the current inquiry into vape legalisation is the best chance of reform, add your voice now.

Sort:

For years that bastard was lobbied to do something about all the allegations about other Priest's.
Finally we know why he did nothing.
Another one to be hung from the lamp post for all to see.
And to think he had a say in choosing the current Pope.

Arguably, this is going to have serious repercussions around the globe. Horrible old pedo he is!

I dont watch the mainstreem fake news.
Is this story being well covered?

Yes, it is getting coverage in MSM and the RW Murdoch apologist media are calling it hunting Catholics...

ha they got the bugger..YES! I now have a new level of respect for the Victorian police.

Resteemed

I am so glad, I hope that he comes home to face the charges!

he will probably stay there and say he's too sick to travel or some crap like that...lol... the shame will kill him anyway. I'm a Christian (not Catholic) so I don't say this because i'm anti religion or anything like that.

Yes, I think that you are right unfortunately, he will be too 'sick' to travel or something like that! I have my fingers crossed that he will come back

lol that will be funny to see. All those people that he hurt, will/need to have the chance to see him pay for what he did do..we all know he did it..this is not "a dingo stole my baby" deal.

Exactly. It's about time the old perve was looked into...all those lies.

lol ..parking at the courthouse will be $1000 an hour on his judgement day..

For sure. A lot of people want to see that man have his day in court...

Thank you for your good post. I think in Germany they are considering vaping to be quite harmful https://www.zentrum-der-gesundheit.de/e-zigaretten-schaedlich.html. I personally don't smoke anymore since about 10 years. But vaping is "fake", I consider it not the real thing, not the right touch, smell and scratch in the throat, but also cancerous etc..

There is not much difference in an IELTS 6 General or Academic, I would say this is a dumb new law that rather implicates that Australia is seeking "Academic Tourism".

Yes, you make a good point. Personally, vaping has helped me quit and not go back, so I am all for it...

What property of vaping compensates the traditional cigarette? Don't mean that insulting, would just like to know your point of view.

For me it helps with the psychological symptoms, and i quite like the yummy flavours...
