 Breaking: George Pell charged on historical child rape charges in Victoria. Cardinal Pell has finally been charged with multiple sex allegations from multiple complainants. This will have serious implications both here in Australia and in Rome, where Cardinal Pell is high up in the Catholic hierarchy. At this stage, it is not clear whether Cardinal Pell would return home to face the charges, or whether he would have to be extradited. More news to come.

Philip Lowe however, is underestimating worker abilities to secure a wage increase in the current environment. He also underplayed the effect of the casualisation of the Australian workforce which affects workers ability to get a pay rise.

The names of those appointed to the powerful Administrative Appeals Tribunal was released Wednesday and the list is peppered with various Liberals including a failed Liberal candidate and a lifetime member of the Sydney University Liberal Club. 

 Fact check: Australian governments new citizenship test requires university English.  It is true that the new citizenship test requires that applicants have university-level English skills and is part of the government's response to questions over national security.
