@polebird: 🦄 Feeling like a magical lyracorn! Lyra spinner dtube combo 🦄

in #fitness8 years ago (edited)

Yesterday, I attended my second class of lyra! Although it has been more than a few weeks, I knew a little more about what to expect from lyra. It was super cool that a lot of my pole skills and muscles trained by pole came in handy. In my opinion and in comparison to pole, lyra is more harsh on the hands and body because it is made of metal loop with a smaller diameter than pole (and wrapped with tape). There are so many shapes you can make with the body on the lyra as well, and I have the feeling that I've only touched the tip of the iceburg!

It really is great to cross-train other aerial arts, and taking another lyra class was much fun! Our instructor taught two separate smaller combos, and by the end of class I gave it a shot of combining the combos. I also tried it on spinner and added a few split variations in to the combo. I would really love to learn more lyra because I've seen lyra performances live and they are super captivating. I hope you enjoy the dtube video I made. The first clip is the combined full combo with some added improv variations, and the next few clips were taken when I was learning the separate bits!

How does it feel to have a free rotating ring in lyra than a fixed pole:)
So much freedom of movement right!!!

Hahah yeah! And if you jump off while it is swinging you have to duck or it will hit you 😁 but yeah it was weird spinning because it swung outwards a little too due to my initial push off

hmm..whats the approx. weight of the ring???

I saw one website selling that said 3 kg but I really have no idea :P

I have this feeling to dub you Miss Versatility. Haha. You are doing well with Lyra, although your body movements is yet to acknowledge that it is not pole, or could it be the Rihannah playing at the background that caused it?

You are Awesome.

Aww thank you my friend! Hahah I like that title :) yeah it’s a bit different and the feel is something to get used to as well

I am sure you will get used to it. Time will get you there.

You look like a pro doing this Lyra fitness even though this is only your second class.
I think it would be easier for me to try this first and then the pole. Do you find this easier or harder than the pole fitness?

Hehe thank you! The pole training certainly made the transition a lot smoother. Using similar muscles and techniques to get the straight lines! I did find it easier (strength wise) than pole but the hoop is more harsh feeling because it’s a smaller metal diameter... you should try both out! Mostly everyone starts pole/aerial without the muscles and flexibility, that develops with practice and time!

:) thank you my friend!

please help me as i am new here

Always there with you sis.

You look great. With your splits and bendy back you'll look amazing on it. There should be loads of transferable skills.

Hehe I’m excited that it does transfer over! And I will keep going with it, thank you for your kind words my fellow aerialist! 💕
