Women on mother's day

in #mothers7 years ago

This is to the women, who get up everyday with a song in their heart despite living in a world that's tried to silence them.

This is for the women who make meals from miracles when there are hungry mouths to feed and little money.

This is for the women who go without so that their children can have plenty.

This is for the women who offer a smile after crying all night in the sanctuary of the bathroom, under running water where no one will see their tears.

This is for the women who remain soft, despite how hard it is in this life.

This is for the women who work two and three jobs to keep the power on and the roof over their heads because there is no one else to rely on.

This is for the women, who have been broken down yet still find hope in every day.

This is for the women who get up early so they can be the cook, the waiter, the launderer, the driver, the house keeper, the confidant, the healer, the teacher.

This is for the women who keep pressing forward when the weight of the world is dragging them down.

This is for the women who have learned to stand on their own two feet because there was no helping hand.

This is for the women who still believe in love even though their hearts have been broken.

This is for the women who support one another and realize that building each other up is the only way we're going to get through this.

This is for the women who don't judge because we've been there, frustrated, angry, heartsick, broken.

This is for the women who believe that their love can make a difference.

This is for the women raising independent, free thinking daughters and passionate, respectful driven men.

This is for the women who refuse to be tame and insist on running wild.

This is for the women who do it all...who give it all, all they have, even when their lives feel empty, because giving up is not an option.

This is for the women who have taught me what it is like to fight for everything I believe in.

This is for the women who didn't give up on me.

This is for my mother, my daughter, my sister, my aunt, my grandmother, my friends and my cousins.

I see you. I acknowledge your beauty, your strength, your power and your vulnerability.

We come from one hell of a stock.
