Happy feet!
Wearing shoes, slippers, high heals looks totally amazing but it's asking for problems! 


 Taking good care of your feet is more important than you might think! Our feet really do work hard, almost the whole day! One foot consists 28 bones who are connected by 33 joints, 19 muscles, tendons and 107 ligaments. This is all surrounded by a network of veins and nerves.

It might look hard to carry a body the whole day but our feet are made to do just that! BUT, wearing the wrong shoes you are already doing it wrong! About half the people on this planet are walking in the wrong shoes! Shoes that don't fit their feet or what they are going to do! Shopping on high heels or running on tennis shoes! Good shoes are not too flat and not too high, and divide the pressure all over the foot! 

Next to wearing the right kind of shoes there is one more option!

If you are having problem with your feet maybe it's time to stop wearing shoes! Stop wearing flipflops, heels or boots! Or at least kick your shoes off when you get home and give your feet at least a few hours a day to breathe and do what they are made for! Always wearing shoes weakens the muscles and tendons in your foot! Compare it with a broken arm that has been put for weeks in plaster! When the plaster goes off, the arm is slack, weak and very thin. What you don't use will reduce in power and volume. This is what also happens in shoes! 

When walking barefoot the weight of the body rests on the heel and that is what the heel is intended for. Almost all shoes have a little boost at the heel, even if they are small, it causes the weight of the body to not to be on the heel but on the forefoot causing is to always stand a bit forward in the wrong position for our body. In order not to fall, the body will compensate and your ankles, knees and hips will have to work extra hard. This often results in having extreme pain in those joints! If we fully stand on our heels, the bones in our body are above each other and that relieves the joints! 

You don't have to throw away your shoes! Just start by kicking them off at home together with your socks! This way you will train your feet to become strong again. By walking barefoot your feet will become warm again because the veins in your feet are mostly squashed by wearing shoes. Your muscles and tendons will become stronger because they are no longer supported.

Walking barefoot is for everyone! Every foot is different there for its important to always make sure you are doing what is best for your own body. To be sure if walking barefoot can help you resolve pain problems contact your doctor or a foot specialist! 


I ALWAYS WALK BAREFOOT! 

I love to walk around in and around the house not wearing shoes. Honestly, I think I walk around this way 95% of the time. If I could walk this way outside I would do it as well. But in a world like this you have to be careful where you walk. I would not go back to wearing shoes again because my feet and body really feel so much better! 


SOME EXTRA FACTS! 

* There are 150.000 sweat glands in each foot!
* Our feet sweat half a liter a day!
* The temperature of our feet rises to 30c and 40c if we wear shoes and socks.
* Hard skin protects your feet so don't take away too much!
* We walk around 660 meters at a average day. In a year that makes 240 KM.

Well.... Bug spray.... A shit load of bug spray, nets, guns anything really! Or maybe just some really bad music to keep them all away?

But yeah, I can understand that walking barefoot outside is a danger as well. On the other hand a snake will also strike when you wear shoes! LOL

I don't think bug spray would work on scorpions 😌

Hmmmmm well, I have no clue. We don't have them running around here. Maybe yelling at them will do the trick? Like SHOOO Shooooo?

LOL that might work. Or you can train a little army of grasshopper mice to accompany you. 🐁

I'm almost 100% barefoot. When I used to go camping, I wore water shoes all the time because they're thin, and because we camped and bathed in rivers mostly.

I am almost 100% as well, I think I am 95% for sure. I put shoes on outside here because people are nasty! But when I am with my mom I walk barefoot all the time. Unless I go shopping because hitting your toes with a shopping cart is really no fun!

Yes! Take them off. Letting your feet breathe and walking on them that way is really a good step!

Great article. Never knew the foot was so complex .I love walking barefoot, As soon as I get home I kick off the shoes and like we say in Holland walk on de blote kakkies lol

At home I always loop op de blote kakkies! Nothing feels better to me. I have people asking me all the time why I don't wear shoes. I alsways say because I walk better this way and I really do. I feel like I am choking my feet when I put on my shoes. Flipflops, slippers are the worst because your toes have to get grip with every step... I love flipflops :( lol

I'd walk barefoot if my toes didn't look like cheese curls.
