PRAYING MANTIS (OOTHECA) EGG CASE...
Since there was so much interest in my posts showing the Praying Mantis, I decided to head out into my Garden to snap a picture of one of the "Egg Cases"... They are about one inch long and holds between 50 and 200 individual eggs, so you can imagine how small the babies must be when they come out in search of food...
Next is a Baby Mantis that I had to enlarge for this posting... As tiny as it appears, it's much too large to come out of the Egg Case... I have no idea how old it was when I spotted it in my garden...
Next is a half grown Mantis sitting on one of my "Perfume Delight" roses... They get about twice this size as Adults...
Notice how its head is turned towards me... It's aware of my presence...
Wow, it's so cool that you have these amazing insects in your garden
Praying Mantis' look scary, but they're actually pretty nice to have around...
