MG HS Exclusive Review and Road Test
This week we have the MG HS, and this is the direct replacement for the GS, it's powered by 1.5 turbocharged engine and develops 169 bhp.
The HS is quite a bit different to the previous SUV, including finishes, safety and styling.
There are 2 gearboxes available, a 6 speed manual and the DCT, there are 3 trims to choose from, the Explore, Excite and Exclusive.
To be honest this is closer to the MG ZS EV, ganted it's not as big, however it is as teched out.
It has the same system that you find in the EV which is MG Pilot and the clever thing is the safety is the same across the whole range so no compromise.
It claims 0-62mph in around 10 seconds however it does seem quicker than that, it handles well and if you're willing to drive it hard it will perform for you, its immense fun.
It is comfortable, well tecked out you can even get active cruise control with traffic Jam assist now the range starts at and this is the crazy part it's just under £18,000 and the top of the range which is a DCT is £24,445.
We have the Exclusive and it retails for £22,995 it's roomy, versatile and performs well, economy wise - anything from 30 to 42.
We were getting around 35 driving like a madman, it can really be an engaging vehicle considering it's size.
It's well trimmed full of leather and has electric drivers and passenger seats they are also heated too, lots of soft touch materials premium finishes and don't forget the sky roof with electronic blind it also opens.
There is only petrol currently but do expect hybrids coming next year, this vehicle is exceptional value, it has great switchgear, steers well has a short shift box and if you're willing to drive it hard it really will perform.
The safety is very good too, collision detection, blindspot detection, bicycle and pedestrian detection, assisted corner braking and lots we even have LED headlamps with high beam assist.

Hello Ben and Annabelle.
This is such a great review of the new MG HS. I personally believe that, without Planetauto, I would have never paid much attention to MG. There was a time they became so lost with no direction, and they kept getting passed around, which made me sad, because MG Had such a strong badge. You have made me realise, with their current owner, that they back, stronger than ever! Please keep up with all this MG content, and please say to MG press office to pass on the message that they really need to make a sexy Roadster. Thank you both.
