Week 38 (May 2019)

Welcome to Recent Developments. In this series I post about domain names that sold recently and have since become developed into an actual website. In other words, this is a focus on end user sales and what they are doing with their recent domain purchase!

End user info in the domain name industry can be extremely valuable. You can learn a lot from this type of data, because it shows you what an end user price was for a particular domain name. Hopefully you can apply that knowledge to your own domain investing both on the buy as well as the sale side. If you know what people are willing to pay for a domain it can help you price your domains right to sell.

On top of all that, it's fun to see what's new on the web!

Domains Recently Developed

Three more domains today that were recently developed, I've got one 4 figure sale and two 5 figure sales. Let's take a look!

WoolWarehouse.com

The first domain is WoolWarehouse.com. This domain sold for $29,888 dollars at NameJet on March 29th, 2019. Currently the domain is redirecting to woolwarehouse.co.uk. From the looks of the redirect it's an end user in the UK. The site is selling fabrics, yarns, and accessories for knitting. This is our top sale today at just under 30K!

As for the domain, I like it. It's a great purchase for an existing brand that operates in Europe and allows them to present themselves more globally as well as appeal to a western audience. Congrats to the buyer and seller.

AlertBay.com

Next we have AlertBay.com. This is our four figure domain today and it sold for $1,660 dollars at NameJet on April 2nd, 2019. The domain seems to have been purchased by the local government in Bay County, Florida for use as an emergency notification system.

I like this domain. It's short and simple and quite a good fit for this end user considering they're, Bay County Florida!

HLIO.com

Finally, we have HLIO.com. It's a 4 letter (LLLL.com) domain that sold for $21,850 dollars at Sedo on April 3rd, 2019. The domain is redirecting to heliostechnologies.com. According to their website they manufacture hydraulic and electronic control solutions. Whatever that means.

This is an interesting pickup for this end user. You can see the domain (HLIO.com) is a shortened and somewhat pronounceable form of the word 'helio'. However, it's not exactly 'helio' nor is it 'helios' which their actual name includes. Don't get me wrong, I like this domain and would have bought it myself as an investment (of course, not for 5 figures!). I'm just curious to see what the end user uses this for. It could just be a great domain to help visitors or customers find your site. When asked over the phone what your domain is, it's much easier to say, 'HLIO.com' than 'heliostechnologies.com'. I can see an advantage in use for advertising too and the truth is 4 letter .coms are always going to be worth money.

Anyway, that concludes this edition of Recent Developments.
