Daddy's Little Killer (novel chapt 4)

           Chapter Four

Marcus finished his class in February. Now that he is a licensed
mechanic, he can open his own shop. But right now, all he wanted
to think about, was paying his parents a visit. He booked his flight
for the next day, then called mom and dad to let them know.

Mom was so happy to see him, she almost knocked him over.
"Lol, easy there mom. I'd like to stay in one piece," said Marcus.

"Oh my," she said, as she put a hand to her mouth in shock. "I'm
sorry, honey. Guess I was more excited than I thought."... "It's ok,
I missed you a lot too."...He turns to give his dad a hug too. Then
they headed to the car. He filled them in on how school went, and
what his plans are. Then he asked how the store was doing. Dad
replied, "I have not been this busy for a long time. We are so glad
that we decided to hire Caleb. He has been there for 2 years now,
and has been such a huge help.".. "Marcus, we've been thinking
about promoting him, to assistant manager. But we wanted to talk
with you first."...
"Dad, you don't have to ask me. I know you mean well, but you are
the owner. So whatever decisions you make, I will always back you
on. I think that is a great idea, about Caleb."

"Then it's settled," said mom. "We will have a party to celebrate with
him."..Dad gave a sigh and grinned at mom.."Becky, you were just
itching for a reason to have a party, weren't you?"
She leaned over and kissed him on the cheek.."Yes, dear."

The party was planned for two days from now. Becky invited Caleb
to dinner, and told him he was promoted to assistant manager. He
was very happy, and told them it was good timing. He had been
planning to propose to his girlfriend...

After Caleb left, Marcus helped mom clean up. His return flight was
tomorrow night, so he wanted to spend alone time with her. And
ask her how she was doing. "I'm doing fine, Marcus. I have been so
busy, I tend to forget what day it is. As soon as one day ends, the
next one arrives, in the blink of an eye.".."I know what you mean,"
he said. "Ok, good night mom. See you in the morning."
"Good night dad," Marcus says, as he pops his head into the living
room. Both parents say good night.

After helping at the store, and plans with Caleb, Marcus heads to
his parents. He took a quick shower and packed remaining gear.
It was getting late, and he refused to let them drive him to the
airport. He called for a cab, and when time came to go, he hugged
mom and dad. "I love you guys. Glad I was able to visit."
"Love you too son," they both said. "Please call when you get home.
Even if it's 2 a.m. And that is an order, you hear?" "Yes sir."....
