Steemit Engagement Challenge Week 2 || Celebrating my favorite religious event Eid ul Fitr

in STEEMIT PAKISTAN2 years ago (edited)
Hello my dear steemit family!

I'm @pixie.dust from Pakistan and here's my introduction and Achievement Post 1. I'm here to participate in the engagement challenge season 2. Today I'm going to share about my favorite religious event and how we spend it according to our culture in Pakistan.

Being a Pakistani we have such a rich and a diverse culture and ethnicity and get a chance to celebrate a number of religious and cultural events. My favorite religious festival is Eid ul fitr and it's the event I'm most exciting to celebrate.

EID UL FITR

Eid ul Fiter is one of the most celebrated events by the Muslims in the month of Shawwal and at the end of the month of Ramadan. Ramadan has a lot of significance in Islam because it is the holy month when the Holy Quran was first revealed to the holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).

Muslims dedicate themselves to praying and getting close to Allah during the month of Ramadan and hold fasts from morning till evening. At the successful completion of Ramadan, Eid ul Fiter is celebrated.

HOW WE CELEBRATE EID UL FITR

The Eid preps are mostly started a month before Eid. The markets are crowded by the women, men and children. Everyone wants to look their best on Eid.

CHAND RAAT

The evening of the festival of Eid ul fitr is also called as the Chand raat because the moon of the month of Shawwal is sighted on this evening. Once the moon has been sighted then the celebrations and the Eid preparations begin.

The market is decorated with lights and stalls of various items like bangles, henna, and different accessories for the women. It is extremely crowded on the chand raat.

APPLICATION OF MEHENDI/HENNA

Henna art

The use of henna in Islamic cultures is emphasized as a Sunnah. A behavior, usually learned from the example of the prophet Muhammad, that is encouraged but it is not mandatory.

Henna is used by the Muslim women to decorate their hands, fingers and nails whenever there's any festival. It's a part of our culture and celebration.

The women apply henna on the Chand raat as a part of the Eid preparations. Different women applying them can be seen in the markets and in the beauty parlours.

DRESSING UP FOR EID

No Eid look is complete without the matching bangles.

One of the best things about Eid ul fitr is getting dressed up and then meeting our family and friends. We Pakistanis like the other muslims in the world are very excited about the Eid ul fitr and the ladies start their Eid preparations way before Eid.

The tailor shops are stocked up with clothes and everyone makes sure they buy their favorite clothes and accessories to celebrate Eid. Beautiful bangles are bought by the women and they choose and match them according to their dresses.

SPECIAL EID PRAYERS

Eid ul fitr is celebrated by the Muslims all over the world in a very enthusiastic way. The Eid day starts with the special Eid prayers where the Muslims gather in a big hall or open area and offer the special Eid prayers. After that they meet and greet each other Eid. The Eid celebrations continue for almost 3 days

SUMPTUOUS GET TOGETHERS

Special Eid cuisines which mainly consists of desserts because of which Eid ul fitr is called the "Sweet Eid."

The Muslims celebrate the Eid ul fitr by meeting and greeting each other, inviting friends and family at sumptuous Eid get togethers and by visiting all the family members.

Yummy Eid cuisines are prepared. One of the main dishes of Eid ul fitr is Sheer khurma where the vermicelli is cooked in milk and sugar and garnished beautifully with the nuts and cream.

EIDI

Eidi is a gift or a salami given to the children by the older family members. It's mostly given in the form of the money but people also present each other eidis in the form of beautiful gift baskets.

The children are very excited about getting the Eidi and they visit the relative and the other family members to get their Eidis.

We should always remember the poor and the less privileged people on this special occasion. We should find such people around us who cannot afford to celebrate Eid like we do and must help them.

I'll end my post here by wishing you all a very happy Eid Mubarak and I hope you had a great day full of celebrations.

Eid is one of my favorite cultures.
I like how you described it.
My most favorite part is Mehndi and eidi 🤣🤣 but Now that I have grown up, I rarely get Eidi. Now most of the time I have to give Eidi.

Anyways you have described this culture very beautifully.

Best wishes for the contest.

Applying mehndi and receiving eidi is most favourite part of mine.
U described it very well.

You said the right thing and I guess most girls but talking about me, I don't like bangles lol.

But I do love mehendi. i do love the various designs and I love it on my hands :p As much as I love them, my brothers are against it because their feet catch the color of mehendi from floor😁😁

Anyways, I was waiting for a final look at Eid that you had but couldn't see that :D

Still i know you were looking beautiful with those bangles and Mehendi ;)

Best of luck for the contest. I loved the way you presented this!

A very well-described article about how Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr. I think this Eid is for females and children. Eidi, mehndi, shopping, everything is for them. Whereas, Eid-ul-Adha is about men. XD
