Virginia Pastoral

in #poem6 years ago

Orioles weaving a net of blue sky and insect lunch.
The willow weeps on the oxbow of a serpent
Tail end of trout troubling mud and murk.
Cow stippled pasture
Tall grass and wild rose hide among the fence posts.
Barn slowly crumbling, cradled in the timeless valley.
Sunshine all the while, but
The roots of shadow go all the way down

Monet, Weeping WIllow.

I think Monet is probably one of my favorite painters. Not that I know a ton of them, but I think I am most familiar with his work. That being said, I always wanted to get one of the famous paintings of the war of 1812 in my office, but I never got around to it. There was some fantastic stuff created during that period.

Nice poem. I think that willow trees are probably my favorite type of tree. They are so majestic. Sounds like they inspire you as well :)
