Flower Arrangements

Over the small hobbies I've developed over the years and really grown to enjoy is creating flower arrangements. I've always loved the breath of natural beauty and pop of color a vase full of fresh flowers brought to a space, but selecting the various flowers for an arrangement and putting them together in an aesthetically pleasing way has become a small creative outlet. It is much more cost effective to use flowers from the garden or a variety of market flowers than to purchase a pre-made arrangement from a florist.

Also there is a language to flowers that can be expressed when you are crafting your own bouquet. Certain colors or types of flowers can have different meanings, each standing as symbol of love, grief, forgiveness, and many other concepts and emotions.
I always forget to snap photos of my arrangements before it's too late, but here are a few that didn't get away:

Around Dia de los Muertos marigolds can be purchased rather inexpensively in this region. They are used in celebration of the holiday, but I use love to use the long lasting blooms for their vibrant orange hue.

These flowers were all plucked while on a late autumn walk. Virginia abounds in flowers, and I loved the look of wild sumac and honeysuckle tamed in a vase.

It doesn't take many flowers to make something beautiful. I loved the yellow of these flowers and the strange tendrils of the gladiolas. Yuu may not be able to tell from the photo, but that sunflower is the size of a large dinner plate.

The best part of the flower arrangement is that all of the flowers came from our garden, which we miss dearly.
