Monster Hunter Lore Chapter 1:

Hi guys; I've always felt like a big fan of the video game world, I'm a fan of sagas like Devil May Cry, God Of War or the Bayonetta, all these games have in common that are Hack and slash; I'm also passionate about new and old platform games like Mario Bros, Ray Man, etc; I am also a fervent follower of Survival Horror like Resident Evil (Biohazard), Dead Space or Silent Hill; and how I'm going to forget the great Japanese role-playing games like Final Fantasy or European role-playing games like The Witcher; but there is a saga that conquers my heart and that makes me want to mark me in the skin the love that I have to this game, I'm talking about the Monster Hunter saga whose next release is released worldwide on January 26, 2018 for the platforms of PS4 and Xbox One under the title of Monster Hunter World (by words of its creators is number 5 of the saga officially, although they have called it another way) and that unfortunately we will have to wait until autumn to play it on PC.

Many of my friends ask me if Monster Hunter has Lore, that is if it has a historical background, a story as such. I am going to say that yes, what happens is that the Lore of Monster Hunter is hidden very deeply in the images of the games, in words that the characters tell you and much more in Japanese magazines or in the things of their creators have commented. Therefore the Lore of Monster Hunter is like a puzzle quite complicated to understand and that takes a work practically of investigation; work that I have bothered to perform.

I will be doing a series of publications by chapters in which I count the Lore of Monster Hunter in chronological order, whose information is taken from different sources, especially from Japanese magazines.

Chapter 1:

The world of Monster Hunter has thousands of years of history and what is known of the violent past of this planet is only a small fraction.

In the beginning there were two very different species with a high degree of development, both from the social point of view and hierarchical organization, one of those groups were Humanoids whose races were formed by Humans, Aquatic men and Wyverians; the other group was that of the Beasts or Wyverns whose chief representatives by power and intelligence were the Elders Dragons. It is unknown if the Elders Dragons had the ability to communicate with Humanoids or if they possessed a language of their own, but it was known that they were intelligent beings able to plan strategies and make decisions to defend themselves and attack their enemies.

According to the legends, the humanoids broke the balance in nature by hunting the Wyverns indiscriminately, experimenting with them and bringing them almost to extinction.

A war broke out between the two groups where Humanoids, although technologically advanced, did not have the strength of the Elders Dragons. Both sides, due to the brutal battles and the hundreds of years of conflict, reached an almost total decadence, where the existence of both species was in great danger.

During the war in addition to the hunters there were some giant Wyverians fighting against the Wyverns, one of the weapons they used at that time is in the village of Pokke. One of these giant Wyverians can still be found in the city of Dundorma.

Thanks to their technology, the humanoids developed during the conflict a series of weapons against Wyverns and Elders Dragons, which can still be found in remote places such as volcanoes and tundra. In addition to the anti-dragon weapons they created a biological weapon with parts of dragons and wyverns, this weapon was able to face the most powerful dragons; it was called "Equal dragon weapon" and was made up of 30 dragons. This weapon was found in some ruins called "Abyss of the Elders Dragons" hidden in a very dense forest.

The technology of the Humanoids reached its maximum development during the war. After the battles that lasted for hundreds of years, the Wyverns and Elders Dragons dispersed throughout the planet, but we do not know if they lost their reasoning, although it is more likely that they still maintain it. The Humanoids, on the other hand, lost almost all their cities and their technology, so there were only small groups that tried to survive and preserve the history, since the origin of this war must be known and learning from the mistakes, for that reason the guild in the present maintains strict hunting rules towards Wyverns and Elders Dragons.

Surely throughout the games we have seen different areas in ruins in different parts of the planet, these ruins are the memories of Humanoid technology that existed thousands of years ago and are a reminder not to make the same mistakes.
