Fort Galt Q2 Progress Update

in #news7 years ago (edited)

Current Activity

Hi everyone! Last time we put a newsletter out, we had just gotten everything ready for construction of the main building. The build site was freshly cleared, the permits were in order, and the builders were ready to go to work. All we had to do was collect another payment from all of our members and begin. That ended up taking longer than we expected and the rainy season set in to put a damper on our plans. It has proven to be a much wetter winter here than the previous two years were and our construction foreman recommended against beginning work until things clear up again in September. The road that connects Fort Galt to Valdivia is now being paved and isn't yet ready for heavy trucks and machinery to traverse so we just have to be patient until things dry up again in a few months.

For anyone that hasn't seen it yet, here's a rough hand-held video of what the property looks like in winter. Some of our members like the rain but others who don't are planning to split the year with another location on the northern hemisphere, where it's summer. Just one of the many benefits of multi-national living.

While we wait for the weather to clear, we're taking advantage of the break to focus on marketing. We still have 11 of the 24 rooms left to fill and would love to find some new members for them over the next few months. To that end, we're writing articles, reaching out to media contacts, scheduling interviews, and meeting with investors now so if any of our newsletter subscribers here can assist with these efforts in any way, it would be very much appreciated. One of our newest members from Germany is assisting us with better-reaching the market there, which has been one of our biggest sources of web traffic. Several strategic advertisements have been scheduled as well, beginning with one on the Tom Woods Show in early July.

New Website

Anyone that has visited our website lately will have noticed that it's been given a total overhaul. It's much simpler and more streamlined for first-time visitors now. Anyone that's interested in learning more can apply for a pass to enter the next level of the site. To find it, just click the menu icon in the top right-hand corner of the page and select "Inside." For anyone that has already applied, the current password is "whereisfortgalt?"

An additional third layer is under development, which consists of our own social networking system so that we can all comfortably communicate without relying on external websites like facebook. A new page on the city of Valdivia is also in the works too, and these new features should become visible throughout July.

Connect With Us

Until things dry up in September, Gabriel is still in Valdivia to receive visitors and is always available to talk to anyone that would like more information (skype name: scheare). He'll be out of the country for a conference in early August though so anyone intending to visit would be advised to avoid that time. Likewise, Patrick is available in Arizona and the Crowleys are in New York and are happy to meet with people there too.

We'll be sure to update everyone again once we're able to get back to construction so watch for that and take care until then!

Thanks! I was in Puerto Varas a few months ago but didn't have time to hunt you down. Lovely town! Will definitely look you up next time.
