Being a seamstress, I have large amounts of scraps of fabric. I often recycle them using them as stuffing for cushions or turgid rag dolls. In this case, I wanted to make something for myself to use in the kitchen.

And so, these cute pots grabs made with scraps of fabrics were born. They are beautiful and very useful pieces for us at home. My mother-in-law has seen them, and she was delighted. They're so cute.! she said tenderly.

Materials:

• Scraps of fabric. Includes ones in monkey fabric.
• Satin ribbon.
• Scissors, thread and sewing machine.

Step by Step:

A.- The pieces that I chose from my full patchwork bag are the following, see figure 1. Try to combine them. Include some thick fabric in your patchwork selection, to make it the middle part. This way it will perfectly fulfill the function of gripping pots, preventing you from burning your hands when taking hot objects. In my case, I have used monkey cloth. Besides, draw and cut the patterns on a piece of paper. I have used the following, see figure 2.

B.- We pin the pattern on the fabric and cut. See figure 3. There should be 3 pieces left for each pot grip. See figure 4.

C.- The front figure, I have cut it in half and cut a couple of centimeters. Also, I have cut out the details of the butterfly wings. See figure 5. Now, we go to our sewing machine and joining the back and middle part of the pot holder, we sew along the edge. See figures 6, in addition to sewing a wide black piece in the middle, this will form the middle part of our butterfly.

D.- We take each piece from the front and we make an extra edge. See figure 7. We locate and with the help of pins, we sew the front pieces to the middle and rear pieces. See figure 8.

E.- At this point, the pieces look as shown in figure 9. With satin ribbon, we sew on the edges and make decorative folds. See figure 10. Finally, we have to paste the details of the butterfly wings. And with black satin ribbon, make the antennae.

Why recycle fabric.? 🤔🤔

Recycling fabric is a positive contribution to the environment. The industrial processes, in addition to the immense amounts of fiber and water that go into making fabrics, are immense. When it comes to recycling fabric, we break the cycle of consumerism a bit and become more considerate of the environment.

Siendo costurera, tengo grandes cantidades de retazos de tela. Muchas veces los reciclo usándolos como relleno para cojines o muñecos de trapo turgidos. En este caso, quise elaborar algo para mí uso en la cocina.

Y así, han nacido estos lindos agarra ollas hechos con retazos de telas. Son unas piezas lindas y muy útiles, para nosotras en casa. Mi suegra les ha visto, y quedó encantada. Son tan lindos.! - dijo tiernamente.

Vamos al paso a paso. 🙌

Materiales:

• Retales de tela. Incluye unos en tela de mono.
• Cinta raso.
• Tijeras, hilo y máquina de coser.

Paso a paso:

A.- Los retazos que elegí de mi saco full de retazos, son los siguientes, observa figura 1. Trate de que combinarán. Incluye en tu selección de retazos alguna tela gruesa, para que sea la parte media. Así cumplirá perfectamente la función de agarra ollas, evitando que te quemes las manos al tomar objetos calientes. En mi caso, he usado tela de mono. Aparte, dibuja y corta los patrones en un papel. He usado los siguientes, ver figura 2.

B.- Sujetamos con alfileres el patrón sobre la tela y cortamos. Ver figura 3. Deben quedar 3 piezas por cada agarra olla. Ver figura 4.

C.- La figura delantera, la he cortado a mitad y cortado un par de centímetros. Además, he cortado los detalles de las alas de mariposa. Ver figura 5. Ahora, vamos a nuestra máquina de coser y uniendo la parte trasera y media del agarra ollas, cosemos por el borde. Ver figuras 6, además de coser al medio un trozo ancho de color negro, éste formará la parte media de nuestra mariposa.

D.- Tomamos cada pieza de las delanteras y le hacemos un borde extra. Ver figura 7. Ubicamos y con ayuda de alfileres, cosemos las piezas delanteras a las piezas medias y traseras. Ver figura 8.

E.- En este punto, las piezas lucen como se observa en la figura 9. Con cinta raso, cosemos en los bordes y realizamos pliegues decorativos. Ver figura 10. Por último, nos resta pegar los detalles de las alas de las mariposas. Y con cinta raso negra, hacerle las antenas.

¿Por qué reciclar tela.?🤔🤔

Reciclar tela es un aporte positivo al ambiente. Los procesos industriales, además de las inmensas cantidades de fibra y agua que conllevan la realización de telas, son inmensas. Al momento de reciclar tela, rompemos un poco el ciclo de consumismo y nos volvemos más consideradas con el ambiente.
