Architectural Photography: Bratislava Castle, architectural gem of Slovakia
Hi there my Steemit friends and followers!
Today, I would like to introduce you to one of the largest and most impressive castles I have ever been to, the famous Bratislava Castle.
Perched on a rocky hill in the center of Bratislava, right above the Danube River, the Bratislava Castle was built in the 9th century and it has been the most dominant feature of the city ever since.
However, it was found out there were ancient fortified settlements on the very same spot probably as early as in around 3500 BC when this area was inhabited by the Boleraz People.
The location of the castle is very unique and in good weather, you can actually see as far as into Austria and even Hungary from there.
Easily recognizable by its four massive corner towers, this majestic rectangular structure is one of the most iconic landmarks of the city of Bratislava as well as all Slovakia.
I took the above featured photos in May, 2015. As you see in the images, we did not really have good weather back then but we still enjoyed this trip. Bratislava might not be as famous as its Czech counterpart Prague but the Slovakian metropolis is definitely worth a visit too.

Mal si nafotit aj tie nechutne garaze co tam stavaju miesto toho,aby poriadne preskumali tie archeologicke nalezy co sa tam nasli (tusim od Keltov)..
Je to už pár let, garáží jsem si buď nevšiml nebo na to zapomněl :D
Hah jj ved si pisal ze 2015. Vtedy to tam uz bolo hore nohami, to som akurat odchadzal z BA.
I love mighty buildings like this one, you can see already from kilometers away. First shot with the clouds looks like out of a Thriller Movie! 😁
