A Plastic Ocean, documentary that everyone should see

in #film8 years ago (edited)

Hi there my Steemit friends and followers!

I rarely write about films (I am not a big movie fan in general - I prefer spending my free time outdoors) but I am going to make an exception today as I just watched a film yesterday that I think everyone who lives on this planet should see.

The film I am talking about is the 2016 documentary called A Plastic Ocean that was directed by the renowned Australian journalist Craig Leeson. As the title suggests, the documentary is about the plastic pollution of our oceans and even though I have been interested in this issue for years and thus have some knowledge about what is going on in the sea, I was left completely shocked, speechless and heartbroken after watching the documentary.

I am not going to mention any particular facts, number or scenes featured in the film here not to spoil it for those of you who are going to watch it but I can tell you some of them were totally incredible and extremely disturbing.

I believe it is initiatives like this shocking documentary that can trigger some of those much-needed mass changes in people´s behavior and that is also why I decided to dedicate my today´s post to it. I will be happy if you help spread the word. Thank you.

The pollution of plastic luckily are starting to get better awareness. But still while cycling through some of the less developed countries it hurts my heart when I see kids playing in rivers full of trash all around them, sometimes even seem to be walking in it.

I hope we get to do see better days regarding this, I'm gonna watch this movie as well:)

You are right @holm, this issue is definitely getting more and more of the much-needed attention but the question is if it is just not too late. You will get to know some really terrifying numbers and stats in the documentary. I haven´t seen kids playing in plastic-polluted rivers like you but I have seen marine wildlife suffering from plastic waste really bad. Moreover, whenever I was collecting trash on the beach, the locals stared at me as if I was the craziest weirdo they have ever seen... There is a lot we need to work on when it comes to ecology.

Thanks for the recommendation, it's definitely so important to address this issue, and knowing the facts is often the first step...

Exactly! Thanks for watching the documentary.

A great message. We as humans need to be more aware of what we are doing to this planet. Thank you for this post.

Well said, Beth. Thanks for watching the movie.

Only one creature on this planet can make hell out of life. And that's what a man thinks (homo sapiens)

Máš pravdu bucíku... a víš, že u mě můžeš česky ;)

;-). To bylo schválně. Kdyby ty komentáře četl i někdo jiný než ty.

Sometimes I can't stand seeing these types of documentary because I feel really sad only imagining what I will see. Plastic is killing so so many creatures, every person and every country must act to stop it!

Well said Anna, hopefully, we will see a worldwide ban of plastic before it is too late.

Nojo jenžee my tady řešíme brčka, příbory apod. , vím že to udělá hodně, ale dokud se nezapojí Asie a rozvojové země...!!!

To máš samozřejmě pravdu...

Definitely have to watch it. Thanks!

I thank you for watching that! :) (and possibly also sharing the message)

A GREAT WAY TO START FOCUSING ON THE OCEAN!
