It's so interesting to see how different cultures interpret or reinterpert Mexican food. Check out the mangonada. It's mango juice with a chile-chamoy or chile-tamarind sauce, on ice. I think getting a direct exchange of cuisines, rather than through the US, would make for some interesting interpretations.
It most definitely is.. sometimes i feel its the same food named differently in various parts of the world... i just looked up mangonada, we have a version of that as well.. we call it pachoddi... we just add a bunch of spices and coconut oil to it.. kind of tastes like a spiced up pickle...
