Yule Decorating Ulog

in #yule7 years ago (edited)

It's that time of year again, when Pagans everywhere bring greenery into their homes to represent life surviving the cold, dark winter, and light lights to represent the return of the sun after the Oak King wins the biannual battle with the Holly King at the solstice, and Christians think it has to do with Jesus being "the light of the world." ;) I tease you, Christians, but y'all love you some Pagan shit. :)

And you know I'm teasing, because I still have Santas. The doll under the tree is maybe a little older than I am and dances and plays music. He was always my favorite when I was little, so my mom gave him to me a few years back.

Lights!

Yuan is an enlightened kitteh:

If it not for sits, why is it made of warm?

The stockings were hung by the chalkboard with care, in hopes that the Oak King soon would be there

This is Dasher. Yes, I know her nose is red, but Rudy gets all the attention, so she is Dasher.

I have lots of little things to notice, like climbing Santa:

These glass birds with feather tails live near the top of the tree ever since Deidre (now over the rainbow bridge) snatched one out of the bag as I was decorating one year without my even noticing until I heard a "clink!" in the kitchen:

Another climbing Santa behind the sun star:

Those ninja Santas! I'm ready for cards, if I get any:

Those are little clips to hang them from. So there is a peek at my Yule decorating! Let's see yours, Steemit!

Soo wonderful and happy!! I love the birdie, it looks so ancient, like my Gramma's decorations, she had a lot of little birds on her tree!!

The climbing Santas are fun too, my children would have a blast trying to find them all around your place <3 <3 <3 Thanks for sharing, I feel really in the Season now!!

Climbing Santas, the reverse to elf on a shelf. LOL!
Ooh I have just been inspired by your comment about the decorations to do a contest! :D

Yuletide celebrations make me so happy. I'll be gathering some twigs, moss and evergreen clippings for decorations soon. I love that string with clips for hanging cards - so clever. I could use that. Our just end up in a bowl.

Without the clips, my cards just end up being magnet-held to my fridge or front door (which is metal too, lol).

We used to have glass Christmas birds like that for our tree when I was a kid...You brought back fond memories to me.

Merry Christmas to you and the kitties.

Loved seeing your Yule decorations, and your dancing Santa. :))

I love the lights of the season best. :)) But I don't lay on them....

Those little glass birds are wonderful.

They are years old so they're the old fashioned incandescent ones that actually do get warm. Ergo, kitty magnet! :)

I only use the incandescent because LED is instant nausea, due to Lyme. They do throw off a bit of heat, just right for a kitty...

I had never heard of LEDs bothering people with lyme before, wow!

Light sensitivity doesn't affect all people with Lyme. But it did me, also sound sensitivity....
