Coffee and Philosophy: Free Will
I write a lot on my personal blogs about my search for peace and the choice to live a life of love as opposed to a life of fear. I feel like the concept of free will is vastly misconstrued. At the very core of our being I feel that we make a choice for positive or negative energetic resonance and that choice is based on love or fear. Free will isn't really about choosing what we want to do or how we want to feel. It's about how we want to view the world and everything that happens to us. To give ourselves the illusion of control over our own lives is in my mind a way to live in complete denial of reality. Sure there are lots of bad things that we don't want in the world and of course there are people that mean to do us harm. We still have the ability to make a choice to look on them with love or fear. Love allows peace whereas fear seeks destruction of whatever it is we are afraid of and in turn fear knows no peace. I'm glad to have finally find my peace anyway. Namaste.
@philosophy-trail Great post, i think fear comes from the lack of freedom. It's true, we all have free choice but not all of us enjoy real freedom.
When we can't find our path to freedom we get trapped in a full circle of fear

Oddly enough there are a lot of people voting for fear out there.
but for them it is not odd, it is their normal. And I am fine with that.
peace comes from within. Only when you are at peace with yourself will you truly have FREE will. Until then you are neither at peace with yourself or the world and your will is not yours so it is not free. inner peace = Free Will. I upvoted freely.... and I will follow you in peace.

i think for peace to reign,there must be love and for love to reign,one have to forgo some deeds by others and live with love...let love lead. as always...simply philosophy. my first post will be coming up prity soon,i would love for it to resteemed and followed thanks.
Control is an illusion, let go og it and loosen the grip. Peace is nowhere to be found, it's discovered within. Freedom is realizing that you hold the Power over yourself!
Like your posts trail. That said, "free will" arose as an attempt to explain how there could be an all powerful God, and yet, still make humans responsible for their actions--particularly not accepting the Church.
Modern neurology makes it pretty hard to claim "free will" for humans, as we are always already limited to our brain development; which itself is a complex movement of temperament, DNA, and environment/place.
That said, as a Jamesion, if your belief brings you peace; who cares if it is "true".
Reminds me of Spinoza. We cannot control what will happen to us, but we can control our emotions link to those events.
