The Joy of Fatherhood

It is a great, wonderful, exciting, unexplainable and undescribable feeling that one has when he becomes a father. Though the experiences are different considering the circumstances of individuals at the time of this great transition. Nevertheless, there's always a kind of emotions attached to that day.

As a kid, I remembered how my dad used to carry me on his vesper motorcycle, especially when I was sick. He would take me to his office and I often noticed the joy on his face as he introduced me to his bosses. Also, my dad loved to take me and my elder brothers to farm to help. Even though I could not do much, he always wanted me to be around him.

As a teenage boy who loved to play soccer, I would want my dad to be available to watch me play, because I loved to see the happiness in him. I was one of the best (if not the best) soccer players in my area back then. My dad was also always proud of me as a brilliant boy. He said I was the only one that took after him academically. I was a bit bright but not as much as him. Even though I was very stubborn. The most stubborn of all his children, he still pleased with me by telling me the reason for flogging me and why I deserved it.

Besides, as grown ups, my dad is always excited to host all of us with own family, not minding the grand children's stubbornness.

I never knew that fatherhood could be this great until I had my first child (I give Glory to God). I couldn't believe the sensation. The emotions was wonderful. I was so happy that I told my wife to ask for whatever she wanted. I couldn't stop praying for her and thanking her, kissing her. Moreover, when I had a baby girl too, oh I could hardly control the joy and I trekked for about 45 minutes to an hour in order to break the good news to my parents. Same thing with my baby boy. The Joy could not just be exaggerated.

Meanwhile, there's a lot of stress attached to this joy, especially when their mother is not at home and you just must baby sit them. Despite that, it's a great experience one has to gain. I remembered a time that I had to back my boy. It was a great experience. In fact, I have it on my phone. What you feel when the children and their mother ganged up against you (father) jokingly, can not be overemphasized.

Honestly, it's a wonderful experience to be a father. Come rain, come sunshine a responsible father stand for the success of his children. Sometimes they would budge you so much that you almost run away. They love me

to teach them the words of God and bible stories even when you are tired. There's a lot of challenges that go with this experience, like paying the school fees, paying for the bills, their being in good health shape, to be in healthy competition with their peers and so on. I'm so glad to be a father.

What I experienced as a child is what my children are experiencing. At the same time, I'm now experiencing what my father experienced. The Joy of Fatherhood is a great joy.
