What Steemit has meant for me.
It seems like only yesterday that I posted my introduceyourself post on Steemit. The response to that post exceeded any expectations I had. The next two posts also received more attention than I expected. My daughter @onetree had been telling me to get on board from August of 2016. I really should have listened to her advice then but as it is with so many older people, when we get into a rut that can be difficult to get out of.
For my part I am a fairly techno-savvy type of individual and when I made the decision to submit my first post I had no real trouble from the technical point of view in putting it together. Just over $60 for that first post, I could not believe it, was my life story that interesting?
It is now nearly three months since then. What have I learned along the way?
I enjoy writing. I have never blogged before except for Facebook posts which bored me. It seems that most people post flowery, sentimental messages, which I expect nobody reads and then just hits the share button. Look not everyone does this but my gut feeling is that with many people it has become a habit. I soon became disillusioned with battered babies, people wanted me to AMEN some cause or other and not to mention the myriad fake stories and downright lies that get propagated. If I am upsetting Facebook fans, this is not aimed at those millions who use it wisely to keep in contact with friends and family.
I have learned that we must keep on learning. I have promised myself that I will master Markdown to make my posts more appealing. I have noticed that there have been new Steemians coming online with valuable information. @zest has captured my attention with his insightful articles on Archaeology. From @anneke I have found useful information for the classroom environment. As the Steem platform grows, so these specialised niches will be able to satisfy many interests and bind like-minded people together that otherwise would never have met.
There are also those out there who as yet don’t get the point, the follow for follow or vote for vote posters, who are obviously in it just for the money. They need to be re-educated that this is not the way to gain popularity. I won’t pretend that money is unimportant; it’s one of those features that make Steemit so unique but I believe that writing for purely financial motives will show through in your posts.
Steemit is still in its early days, this week we added about 1379 new members per day to our platform. A thumbs up to @penguinpablo for his sterling work with the daily stats report. I expect in the coming months and years , new uses and apps will be found and that the blockchain system and cryptocurrency will transform the world.
Only one thing saddens me and that is how resistant and sceptical people around me are to the facts of these modern trends. Oh well, I was there once myself.
Lastly just a big thank you to all my followers, it is early days yet but we will all benefit from this community and watch it grow to new heights.

Keep being you and I personally enjoy reading your posts when I see them. I like the social aspect of Facebook much better but I have never done anything to be popular. People either love or hate me so what they think of us does not really matter. It is about learning, being true to ourselves and expanding the heart and consciousness. We each decide how we are going to respond to the worlds we travel. Keep on keeping on !! Thank you for sharing from your heart and genuine experience, it is refreshing and real. XOXO
Thank you for your well thought out post. I enjoy the feedback as much as I enjoy writing the post itself.
Me too but I am cutting down on my blogging habits. I'm thoughtful but often misread and it caused more trouble on other websites than worth my energy spent.
Are you cross-posting to other web sites or are they picking up your posts from Google. Thanks for responding and letting me know about this aspect of posting.
Transparency has an upside and a downside. I am on Facebook and google and after 15 years I really don't care who is watching I'm a really boring person LOL besides our privacy has been invaded ever since birth. I'm not always up for the brave new WORLD it can feel isolating and shady but LIFE is something worth spending my time and efforts on. Blessings and positive vibezzz on your journey.
Nice honest post
Thanks for taking the time to read my post. It is strange how topics to write about appear in the mind. I have followed you.
O I so agree with this post - very well written - resteeming
I am glad that you have similar views to mine, I try to write about what touches my heart in one way or another. I do tend to jump around a bit and touch on different topics but I suppose that's part of my make up.
