Steemmonsters Packs & A Quick Update

Hey y'all, quick updates on what I've been up to and some updates on how I'm doing in Steemmonsters. First, I've been super busy the past week or two finishing up all my projects for classes (I'm done after I finish off a paper today!) and doing some side projects for cash. Also been busy with work of course, but there we're almost to the (first) finish line! Just about done throwing together the second prototype (alpha?), at which point I'm no longer going to have to deal with the prototype at all, except for integrating the blockchain to it after I've built it. So, basically, I'm a few days away from putting down 'Blockchain Engineer' on my résumé :P

Steemmonsters Packs

Although the node has seemed iffy today (I got errors when combining cards, and it took forever to find a match :/) I finished my daily after about an hour and got another gold card! That's my second ever, second from a daily, and second this week, so it's been going pretty great for me. Here's an Imgur gallery of all my pack openings, since it's easier than sharing 10 pics and two videos (screen recordings of me opening last season reward packs). Here are the two gold packs:

I'll probably post weekly with updates on how my pack openings have been going. These distributions seem pretty normal, especially since the sample size is pretty small. No legendaries yet, but two goldens is the only thing I could see as weird, but I haven't checked what the distribution is supposed to be like anyways. 10% of cards drawn were summoners, which is always nice since I'm still trying to get mine leveled up, and splinter distributions were basically even, in that if I can definitely see them tending towards 16% here, and I'm sure they would average there with a larger sample size.

However, this has barely helped me at all in leagues this season. I made it to Diamond III (woo!) but immediately hit the roadblock all others have encountered. As soon as I hit Diamond III, I started getting matched with max level decks, which mine is definitely not. It's pretty easy to get/stay in Diamond III, but it's basically impossible to move up to Diamond II or I without a maxed deck, which I consider an issue at this point. I understand Champion should be extremely competitive, but being matched with Champions as a Diamond creates a severe mismatch in decks and skill. I'd like to see someone's recommendations implemented, or at least referenced as a basis for the next update. Off the top of my head, I remember @holoz0r and @just2random's suggestions being great. I disliked (and barely passed) the Game Design/Programming course I took in school, so I'm probably not one to consult on how to make the game more fair or fun. Anyways, enjoy playing Steemmonsters!
