Reflections For Today: Baptism Of The Lord Jesus Christ

" You are my beloved son, with you i am well pleased"

The baptism of the Lord today ends the Christmas season, ushers in the public ministry of Jesus and begins the ordinary time of the year. This event as a moment of decision for Jesus as he launches his mission on earth; a moment to identify with sinful humanity in order to lead them to freedom; a moment of approval, which he received from the Father; A Good News he brought; the message of peace. Like Jesus, at our baptism we received the spirit and became children of God. Led by the Spirit as a people on the move following Jesus, the master, let us listen as Mark opens to us in his gospelthroughout the liturgical year where the master leads us and how to follow him.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to experience the transforming power of your gospel today through Christ our Lord. Amen.
