There are certain things within all of our lives that guide us to a greater (or lesser) understanding of ourselves and life in general. Whether that be a person, occurrence, substance, object, or anything that influences how we perceive our internal selves as well as our external environment, things happen, are perceived, and then acted upon. This is termed the "perception-action cycle" in neuroscience. Nonetheless, it all still seems so daunting and mysterious, hence the phrase "down the rabbit hole". This constant journey yields an-ever evolving mosaic of behaviors and creations, all related to one another in some way no matter how distant. One of my favorite quotes from a systems neuroscientist, Joaquin Fuster, "relations are the essence of meaning" perfectly illustrates how the way in which entities are related to one another determine the semantics we assign to them. The proximity of the connectedness of these relations is what determines the outcome of reality, accompanied by the passage of time. Everything you do influences everyone no matter how minuscule that influence may be, the world would not be the same if you did not exist! Just because I put a picture of psychedelic pizza at the top of this, I caused a specific pattern of neuronal firing to occur within that skull of yours which would not have occurred had I not placed that picture there, altering the course of your life and the next person you interact with's life and so on, forever! muahahaha! sorry. that escalated quickly. the end :)
