In Venezuela, the municipality of Callao is located in the state of Bolívar. This is one of the richest populations of Venezuela for its gold deposits, and it is thanks to its gold mines that becomes one of the most important municipalities at the national level concerning trade. In El Callao wine, fabrics, pearls (crystals) for jewelry and goldsmithing were imported.

It is in the twentieth century, when mining began in Callao, the surrounding countries and Venezuela settled in the population in search of gold and iron, the inhabitants of the islands as Trinidad and Tobago, Granada, Curacao and countries like Brazil and Holland because of the striking and comments of the existence of gold, decided to settle in Callao.

There was a great mixture of diverse cultures and an infinite number of languages, customs, music and song, among them calypso and patuá. With the calypso during the carnival, they saw the perfect opportunity to celebrate the joy of living, feeling, transmitting sorrows and nostalgia, in some cases as divine interpretations for the flourishing of the gold industry for the people.

On December 31, after the sonar, the last cannon fire that bids farewell to the year that night, and welcomes the new year, people go out into the streets, dancing the calypso and loudly give the carnival cry, in my family used to throw clean water, and between laughter and joy is dawning in the streets of the callao.

The devils of El Callao, represent the religious part of these celebrations, they are seen with the colors white, red, black and yellow, they cover their heads with large colored handkerchiefs and with that dance that enters through the feet that invites those present to dance.

The carnivals of Callao were named by UNESCO as national heritage. At the rhythm of the calypso, the declaration of the Callao Carnival as Intangible Heritage of Humanity was celebrated on the boulevard of Plaza Venezuela, in Caracas.
