Steemit Terminology Demystified (Part II)
Without anyone peeping over my shoulders and seeing what I am typing I am more at ease now. Some of you lovely folks are nice enough to read my entire posting and request for Part 2. Although the author’s payout was a little disappointing but I will still do it for the sake of humanity and goodwill. It is important that you read my first posting because the same lingo will continue. So here goes…
Reputation
If you notice the number beside your profile picture and your name, you will start with 25. Like all beauty pageant contestant, you carry that number with pride. But this number can change. If you provide good vegetables, poultry and fishes to the chef, and the dishes turned out good, you gain better reputation. It is like getting upgraded to the A-list category if you are into the showbiz world. You would want to hangout with Anne Hathaway, Will Smith, Bruce Willis and Jennifer Lawrence. So the same goes for Steemit, you want to be with those that have good reputation. You can see some with reputation of 70 and above. Those are people who have gained a good solid following and had been churning out good contents.
The more contents you churn out with good curation record, the number will automatically increase. Usually it is quite consistent with the income you derive from the posting you publish. Like all reputation, it can be destroyed. Just because you start with a reputation of 25 it doesn’t meant that you cannot dip any further down. If Jennifer Lawrence started acting in ‘Jenny loves Leather and Whips XXX’ then she will be downgraded from A-list. So, you maintain a good reputation and avoid the dark side even when Lord Vader offers you special Jedi powers, you are in good stead. Otherwise it is possible to have a negative reputation. So when you hit 75 which is the highest you can reach, you know when you shout, ‘Who is your daddy?’ the crowd would be yelling your name.
Minnows
Minnows are small fishes in small ponds. Usually they are caught to be used as baits for bigger fishes. In other words, if Batman is the superhero, you are the butler’s assistance (not even the butler), the one that no one sees. The one will have to wipe the Batmobile to ensure that it is squeaking clean and it has enough petrol. You got to ensure that the harpoons in Batman’s arsenal works, but that is all still cool because if Batmobile runs out of petrol it would be really embarrassing. So, minnows of the steemt world, ‘You are important!’. But there will be days when Robin ask you to shine his shoes. You get my point, minnows are often overworked, underpaid, unappreciated and a bell boy to everyone in the community.
source
So, like any first grader in school, you need a big burly 5th grader or 6th grader to walk behind you. That is to tell the world that, ‘hey, I can’t whoop your ass, but my homie here sure can!’ Minnows will find it tough to survive and eventually die a sad death because their posting didn’t hit 2 cents despite putting in 3 hours of research and write some good solid stuff about the theory of relativity that even Einstein can’t understand.
So, it is important that a minnow must have someone to watch their back. Either make a friend with a Dolphin or a Whale will not hurt. There are many mentorship program to assist fresh Minnows to survive. So, if you do not wish to feed on the scrap and be a nobody, you must first survive the brutal ragging for the first few months of feeling undervalued and unappreciated. Like how Daniel must wipe the floor and paint the fence for Mr. Miyagi before he becomes a bully at the local Karate tournament. Well, you get my drift.

Whales and Dolphins
Whales are individuals that are already endowed with superpowers. So in the Marvel or DC Comic world, they would be the likes of Superman, Thor, Wolverine, Wonder Woman or even Deadpool. They would have superpowers that they can delegate to you in the form of Steem Powers because they are just so powerful. So, for minnows, if they dream of being a hero, they dream of becoming a whale. Just like how you and me used to tie the blanket to our neck and pretend it is our cape and make belief that we are Superman.
Dolphin meanwhile is the sidekick to the hero. So, if you take Batman as a Whale, then Robin is his dolphin. If Anakin Skywalker is a Whale, then Obi Wan is his sidekick. Dolphin must not be overlooked because they do have superpowers as well just that it may not be as much as their big brother. Every Whale is important to the ecosystem, because they do have a lot of influence in the community. They command many followers and because they have superpowers in form of Steem Power, this can be delegated to the people that they like or the people that they wish to help.

Wallet
This is your open bank account. Unlike the real world, how much you have is strictly private. So the person who drives a Bentley may only have enough money in his pocket for a Happy Meal but in Steemit, your bank account is an invitation for public viewing. It is like a freaking peep show but for free. So, if you really treasure your privacy, and do not wish to have so much reflected in your wallet, you can always make a transfer to @perennial and a heartfelt thanks will be warmly extended to you. In the steemit world, how much your account is worth, when you did your power down is available for all and sundry to view.
So, if someone tells you how rich he is, it is verifiable. There is so much transparency in the system that it is actually very frightening. So much for the time being, there will be more in-depth discussion on Steemit but at the meantime, just sit back, relax and enjoy the show.
Steemout.

Lol. I hope the whales got that part. Nice writeup. Life of a minnow on steemit would make for a bestseller :)
I love this part too.. Well if any whale or dolphin happen to drop by, and would like to make more than one transfer, I will be more than happy to receive it with open arms too... Thanks in advance!
No no...the whales only contribute to the author not the curator. 😂😂
I am authoring the comment too... So consider author lah... Hahaha...
Dolphin also can contribute...
Good try...best of luck
Same to you... Fingers crossed... Lucky lucky us...
if only a whale would be so kind to be nice to a minnow like myself
We can only hope that happens.
before i sleep each night, i pray the toothfairy doesnt pull my teeth out and pay me $1 and that whales find me adorable enough to delegate VP and maybe donate me some Steem.
The prayer of a minnow. Lol
Amen
Thanks for teaching me a thing or two. :D
I am still learning myself...thanks for reading

Absolutely loved Part 1 and Part 2, @perennial - it was like watching an episode of Suits with Mike and Harvey trading witty movie quotes. Well explained, and I'm just sorry I can't resteem Part 1. I'll see if I can still share it on FB. Well done, and keep on Steeming on! 😊😊
...and shared on FB. Who knows, maybe that will get you some more followers. At the very least it will help my FB friends have a better understanding just what the heck this is all about and have a belly laugh at the same time. You're really funny, @perennial!
Thank you so much for the support. I am gonna start on part 3 in a week's time. This is like Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. My next writing will cover fork and witness.
Oh, looking forward to that one. Much still to learn on forks and witnesses, I have.
Interesting.....cleared up some stuff for me but I could do with more info..... perhaps a part 3? I am also praying for a whale to be nice to me.
Its coming...if bribery is involved like a nice meal...part 3 will be sooner than expected.
