Betterlife|THE DIARY GAME - 17 July 2021: Old Market in Ao Nang Thailand!

The market here in Ao Nang Thailand has that extra old world vibe. This is probably one of the oldest feeling markets I've been to in a long time. Many markets around the world from Peru to Cambodia are often located in open-air pavilions like buildings or even more modern buildings.

But this market seems to be built of driftwood, bamboo and sheet metal. The ceilings are low, the floors are dirty, and frankly it's dark, and there's a slight feeling of tightness inside.

To me this is neither good nor bad, it's just! And the food inside ranges from "you can't pay me to eat it"; to "Are you kidding me, I got a kilo of mangoes for 70 cents!"

Furthermore, there is a plethora of fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices to be found at rock bottom prices. Meat and Poultry, well, let's just say sanitation issues are on your face. However being right near the sea, there is a great selection of seafood and some of them seem very fresh and very tasty. You have then prepared the food and you can clearly see the difference between these street stalls in touristy areas and these eateries with locals as their client base.

Overall, it's an awesome and interesting place to explore, especially during peak fruit season. Mangosteen, Rambutan, Leech Nuts, Dragon Fruit, Mango, and many more that are very exotic can all be seen in these photos.
