(ESP/ENG)“POBRE EN ESPÍRITU”/ “POOR IN SPIRIT”

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes, un tema que es de suma importancia para cada uno, porque el Señor Jesús nos describe los rasgos de los discípulos que lo siguen a Él, y por lo tanto los rasgo o el carácter que usted y yo debemos tener, para ser discípulo de Cristo. Hoy sólo vamos a estar estudiando uno y durante los próximos días seguiremos estudiando los restantes.

Nuestro Dios desea que nosotros como sus hijos tengamos ciertos rasos que nos diferencien de los otros que no pertenecen a la familia de Cristo. Como discípulo de Jesús debes tener un carácter que te diferencie. Para que no haya duda de esto, el mismo Jesús nos dejó una serie de rasgos que van a determinar el carácter del discípulo de Jesús. Jesús pronunció estos rasgos en un monte, dando un sermón, conocido como el sermón más grande dado por algún predicador de todos los tiempos, el sermón del monte. Jesús el príncipe de los predicadores, no ha existido ni existirá ninguno como Él. El sermón de hoy lo he titulado “EL CARÁCTER DEL DISCÍPULO DE JESÚS” y hoy estaremos estudiando el 1er rasgo de ese carácter. Estemos leyendo Mateo. 5:3.

3 Bienaventurados los pobres en espíritu, porque de ellos es el reino de los cielos.

Las Escrituras no nos dice el nombre del monte. Después de subir al monte, se sentó. Los rabinos judíos enseñaban sentados, y así lo hizo Jesús. Quizás para más intimidad, y los presente: sus discípulos (creo que no eran sólo 12, sino más). Y la multitud escuchaba. Este sermón estaba dirigido a sus discípulos y a nosotros como sus discípulos.

Las enseñanzas se pueden dar, sin abrir la boca. Siendo ejemplo, otros lo ven y aprenden. Viendo hacer lo que hace otro se aprende. Pero en este caso, Jesús abrió su boca para enseñar.

Así que, Jesús comienza el sermón del monte con bendiciones, porque vino al mundo para eso, lo ha enviado el Padre para bendecirnos y lo hace como quien tiene autoridad y realiza con bendición lo que dice; en esto precisamente se diferencia la bendición de Dios de la nuestra. La nuestra es un bien-decir en forma de alabanza o petición a Dios. Pero la de Dios es un bien-decir que comporta un bien hacer, porque la Palabra de Dios es viva y eficaz. Dios lo que promete lo cumple, su bendición al decirla la cumple (lo hace).

Así que en este pasaje comienza Jesús a decir: BIENAVENTURADOS: viene de la palabra en griego macarios, que significa feliz, dichoso. Pero tiene una connotación especial, tiene una etimología que va a un sentido de tener buena suerte, esto es, tener una buena ventura, irle a uno bien en las cosas. Es una verdadera felicidad.

Teniendo en mente el propósito del discurso de nuestro Salvador, que era describir a los que son salvos, y no era declarar el plan de salvación, vamos a considerar ahora la primera de las Bienaventuranzas, es decir, quienes son los verdaderamente felices, dichosos. El que tiene este primer rasgo:

I.- POBRE EN ESPÍRITU. V.3.

Generalmente pensamos que toda pobreza es mala, pero aquí, Jesús nos dice que la verdadera felicidad viene dada por medio de la pobreza espiritual. Quizás usted piense: ¿Pero para qué voy a ser pobre espiritualmente? Necesito es ser rico espiritualmente. Si la Palabra de Dios nos dice que nos bendice con toda bendición espiritual, y entonces ¿por qué voy a ser pobre? Creemos que la pobreza es una maldición impuesta por el enemigo al pecar el hombre.

Sin embargo, rompiendo todo paradigma y creencia, Jesús nos dice: que eres verdaderamente feliz si eres pobre espiritualmente. Ahora ¿Qué significa ser pobre espiritualmente? No se trata de esa pobreza en espíritu que, en lugar de bendición, es una maldición y un pecado. Pobreza espíritu es:

I.1.- Son los que reconocen su pobreza espiritual y, dejando a un lado toda autosuficiencia, buscan la gracia de Dios. Tienen corazón de pobre que se sienten pequeño, mendigo, insuficiente y depende siempre y en todo de Dios.

I.2.- Todo el que no pone su corazón en las riquezas de este mundo y que, al tener así su corazón despegado de lo temporal, vive contento, como Pablo, lo mismo en la abundancia que en la escasez.

I.3.- El pobre en espíritu es quién, al tener riquezas de este mundo, está dispuesto, como Job, a bendecir a Dios cuando se las quite, y ayudar a los menesterosos, no sólo sintiendo compasión del necesitado, sino también socorriéndole eficazmente en su necesidad.

I.4.- El pobre de espíritu es el que ha perdido toda confianza en su propia justicia y en sus propias fuerzas, y reconoce que depende totalmente del mérito de la obra de Cristo y del poder de su Espíritu. Ese corazón contrito y humillado con el que el publicano clamaba propiciación para un pobre pecador, eso es pobreza en el espíritu. Poner a Jesús como el único camino para la salvación de nuestras almas.

II.- LO QUE NO ES POBREZA DE ESPIRITU:

II.1.- La de un pobre y menesteroso que codicia las riquezas de este mundo, y ve con envidia como otros disfrutan de lo que él no tiene.

II.2.- Tampoco es pobreza de espíritu la falsa humildad. Es posible engañar al hombre, pero no a Dios.

Esta pobreza de espíritu figura de primera entre las bendiciones. Los filósofos no reconocieron la humildad como una de las virtudes, pero Cristo la puso en primer lugar, como fundamento de todas las demás virtudes morales. Cuanto más alto se construye un edificio, más profundo se echa el fundamento. Y la humildad ocupa uno de esos fundamentos. Ahora:

III.- BENDICIONES DE SER POBRE EN ESPÍRITU:

III.1.- Son ya felices en este mundo porque Dios cuida siempre de ellos, nunca les faltará nada y tendrán descanso completo. De esto gozamos nosotros por ser discípulos de Jesús, pero es necesario buscarle cada día. Mientras que los arrogantes y ambiciosos se hayan siempre inquietos.

III.2.- DE ELLOS ES EL REINO DE LOS CIELOS: Aquí disfrutan ya del reino de la gracia, y para después les está preparado y reservado el Reino de la Gloria. Esto es para los discípulos de Jesucristo, que sean pobre en espíritu. Tú está allí, es una bendición pertenecer a ese grupo. Hay que luchar día a día para que cada día nuestro corazón sea más pobre en espíritu.

Así que, como hijos de Dios y discípulos de Jesucristo debemos ser Pobre en espíritu, la Palabra de Dios nos dice que esto es una gran bendición, mis hermanos. El carácter del discípulo de Cristo debe tener este rasgo característico de ser Pobre en espíritu. La bendición: es nuestro el Reino de los Cielos.

El primer rasgo que distingue al discípulo de Jesús del resto, es ser: POBRE EN ESPÍRITU.

Que Dios les bendiga y trabajemos para dejar todo orgullo y arrogancia y tener más humildad y ser realmente: pobre en espíritu. Que Dios les bendiga.

“POOR IN SPIRIT”

Today I want to share with you, a topic that is of utmost importance for each one, because the Lord Jesus describes to us the traits of the disciples who follow Him, and therefore the traits or the character that you and I must have, to be a disciple of Christ. Today we will only be studying one and for the next few days we will continue studying the rest.

Our God desires that we as his children have certain characteristics that differentiate us from others who do not belong to the family of Christ. As a disciple of Jesus you must have a character that sets you apart. So that there is no doubt about this, Jesus himself left us a series of traits that will determine the character of Jesus' disciple. Jesus spoke these features on a mountain, giving a sermon, known as the greatest sermon ever given by any preacher, the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus, the prince of preachers, has not existed and will not exist any like Him. Today's sermon I have entitled "THE CHARACTER OF THE DISCIPLE OF JESUS" and today we will be studying the 1st trait of that character. Let's be reading Matthew 5: 3:

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”

The Scriptures do not tell us the name of the mountain. After climbing the mountain, he sat down. The Jewish rabbis taught sitting, and so did Jesus. Perhaps for more intimacy, and present them: his disciples (I think there were not only 12, but more). And the crowd listened. This sermon was addressed to his disciples and to us as his disciples.

The teachings can be given, without opening your mouth. By example, others see and learn. By watching someone else do what you learn. But in this case, Jesus opened his mouth to teach.

So, Jesus begins the Sermon on the Mount with blessings, because he came into the world for that, the Father has sent him to bless us and he does it as one who has authority and does what he says with blessing; It is precisely in this that God's blessing differs from ours. Ours is a well-saying in the form of praise or petition to God. But that of God is a good-saying that involves a good doing, because the Word of God is alive and effective. God fulfills what he promises, his blessing when he says it fulfills it (he does).

So in this passage Jesus begins to say: BLESSED: it comes from the Greek word macarios, which means happy, blissful. But it has a special connotation, it has an etymology that goes to a sense of having good luck, that is, having a good fortune, doing well in things. It is a true happiness.

Bearing in mind the purpose of our Savior's speech, which was to describe those who are saved, and was not to declare the plan of salvation, we are now going to consider the first of the Beatitudes, that is, who are the truly happy, blessed ones. The one with this first trait:

I.- POOR IN SPIRIT. V.3.

We generally think that all poverty is bad, but here, Jesus tells us that true happiness comes through spiritual poverty. You may think: But why am I going to be poor spiritually? I need is to be rich spiritually. If the Word of God tells us to bless us with every spiritual blessing, then why should I be poor? We believe that poverty is a curse imposed by the enemy on man's sin.

However, breaking all paradigms and beliefs, Jesus tells us: that you are truly happy if you are spiritually poor. Now what does it mean to be poor spiritually? It is not about that poverty in spirit that, instead of blessing, is a curse and a sin. Poverty spirit is:

I.1.- They are those who recognize their spiritual poverty and, putting aside all self-sufficiency, seek God's grace. They have the heart of the poor who feel small, beggar, insufficient and always and in everything depend on God.

I.2.- Anyone who does not put his heart on the riches of this world and who, thus having his heart detached from the temporal, lives content, like Paul, both in abundance and in scarcity.

I.3.- The poor in spirit is the one who, having the wealth of this world, is willing, like Job, to bless God when he takes it away, and to help the needy, not only feeling compassion for the needy, but also helping them effectively in your need.

I.4.- The poor in spirit is the one who has lost all confidence in his own justice and in his own strength, and recognizes that he depends totally on the merit of Christ's work and on the power of his Spirit. That contrite and humbled heart with which the publican cried out for propitiation for a poor sinner, that is poverty in spirit. Put Jesus as the only way for the salvation of our souls.

II.- WHAT IS NOT POVERTY OF SPIRIT:

II.1.- That of a poor and needy man who covets the riches of this world, and sees with envy how others enjoy what he does not have.

II.2.- False humility is not poverty of spirit either. It is possible to deceive man, but not God.

This poverty of spirit ranks first among the blessings. The philosophers did not recognize humility as one of the virtues, but Christ put it first, as the foundation of all other moral virtues. The higher a building is built, the deeper the foundation is laid. And humility occupies one of those foundations. Now:

III.- BLESSINGS OF BEING POOR IN SPIRIT:

III.1.- They are already happy in this world because God always takes care of them, they will never lack anything and they will have complete rest. We enjoy this because we are disciples of Jesus, but it is necessary to seek him every day. While the arrogant and ambitious have always been restless.

III.2.- THEM IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVENS: Here they already enjoy the kingdom of grace, and for later the Kingdom of Glory is prepared and reserved for them. This is for the disciples of Jesus Christ, who are poor in spirit. You are there, it is a blessing to belong to that group. We must fight day by day so that each day our hearts are poorer in spirit. So as children of God and disciples of Jesus Christ we must be Poor in spirit, the Word of God tells us that this is a great blessing, my brothers.

The character of the disciple of Christ must have this characteristic feature of being Poor in spirit. The blessing: the Kingdom of Heaven is ours.

The first trait that distinguishes the disciple of Jesus from the rest is being: POOR IN SPIRIT.
